    I've never subscribed to bashing "orientalism",but the recent coverage of ISIS and its endorsement by a few ISIS experts is a gross embodiment of the worst forms of colonialism. When local heroes who endured ISIS are described by Western journalists as "cowards"...

    This is how IS wanted to "win our trust" May 21st 2015, IS stored tons of explosives & ammo in a densely inhabited area. Scores of people were killed when was airstriked. They did not call ambulance, they simply started collecting unexploded mortars & missiles.

    I can’t stop thinking about how reckless the publishing of real names is. Where are the editors? The ethics? And for anyone thinking maybe consent was given, think long and hard about what consent even looks like given power differentials/context.

    Why the f*ck is still publishing *non-redacted* documents from with peoples’ real names on it?! Do they really care that little, or do they just enjoy the publicity…

    Cringeworthy stuff. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but this seems like a really awful attempt of saying "well maybe they weren't so bad after all" and attempting to humanize/normalize a group of people (ISIS) who should not be given that luxury.
