It irritates me quite a bit that the Western presses have settled on "pro-Kurdish" as the stock modifier for the HDP. Can we mix it up? Can we explain the importance of Demirtas in widening the issue--and voter--base?

I was specifically referring to Western coverage that scrabbles to find a Kurdish angle in everything to fetish upon.

And there's a Kurdish angle to "everything" happening in countries Kurds have a political leverage. It's not "Westerners' fetishization" that make it happen. It's Kurds' votes and blood. Maybe Turks and Arabs should stop getting hurt when Kurds are perceived as a distinct entity.

So what even pro Barzani media is often er sympathetic towards the PKK let alone the HDP. Reality is the HDP isn't as much Pro Kurdish as it is pro PKK. The HDP puts up a "far leftists, liberal" face in Western Turkey while preaching PKK politics and right wing stuff back east
