And when you find out it’s actually the Navy Cross, your response to traducing this disabled veteran to tens of thousands of people will be what, precisely?

The iron cross and the navy cross do look strikingly similar, especially at a bad angle- I'm pretty sure he didn't intend to insult anyone...
-
Is it fair to say that being a Nazi is a very bad thing, and that progressives ought not to throw that accusation around lightly? Whilst putting “hero” in scare quotes? I will attack any traitor whether or not they wore the uniform, but let’s be absolutely sure before denouncing.

Forearm tattoo 'Guadalcanal' further suggests Marines/Navy.

My God, if he won the Navy Cross I don’t know what to say. Thank you for your service, sir, seems a good start,
@perlmutations should begin right there. cc@RossElderWrites -
And that’s whether he won it or not. That’s a Marine. Absent evidence of wrongdoing, the correct civilian posture towards veterans is one of respect and gratitude.
-
Perhaps a family tribute. Generations of service in Marines/Navy.

Turns out he was a lead sweeper of IEDs in Helmand and *lost both legs* to an IED after willingly taking that risk to support his men. Is involved in the Paralympics and supporting victims of the Boston Bombing. I can’t even.pic.twitter.com/saQ9pw9SsD

Iron Cross is a medal that originated in Prussia in 1813. Form comes from Prussia adopting Teutonic Order crusader symbol from 13th century. It was first awarded during napoleonic wars for bravery.
-
They are still granted for bravery in modern Bundeswehr to this date.
-
Sorry, but you are wrong, the Iron Cross is NOT being awarded in the German army anymore as it is considered a Nazi symbol. Only WW2 veterans may wear it if the swastika was replaced with an oak leave cluster!
-
Well, they "redesigned it"and call it The Ehrenzeichen der Bundeswehr, but its the same cross, only gold painted.
-
Wrong again, that's how it looks:pic.twitter.com/z2dxoLoq4w

If it were illegal symbol, I'm positively sure it wouldn't be used in Germany. German law prohibits the use of swastika insignias, not iron cross. The official Bundeswehr insignia( yes,it IS the original iron cross) :pic.twitter.com/SbIyQHDMk4

It's not just the Iron Cross, inside the cross as seen from different angles there is an axe-shaped T with a number 2 shaped like a blood drop. This is a prominent Neo-Nazi symbol.
