rare 40s japanese art deco neo mars long roller lighter

offered is a fabulous late 1940's art deco fancy shape "neo mars" pocket petrol lighter. the chrome plated lighter features an unusual curved body style with protruding long roller mechanism. it is quite an unusual shape with hinged snuffer and loop for chain attachment for vest pocket use. the lighter is marked masui co on the flint screw and has patent numbers on the fuel screw. the front edge is marked 'neo mars". i have seen similar "mars" models also marked mioj. the lighter was manufactured in japan and is an important vintage model as it is an updated copy of a dunhill roller model. the lighter measures about 1-7/8" tall x 1-3/4" across and is in very good used condition. there are some small brassed spots along roller area that slightly detract. the roller mechanism throws a strong spark so lighter should operate with proper service of fuel. the unusual abstract shape "neo mars" lighter is very showy and would look wonderful with any 1940's usa - uk - swiss or french machine age industrial pocket lighter. many lighter collectors enjoy the figural japanese novelty lighters and do not realize the japanese designed some very fascinating pocket lighters during the 1940's. overall - an important vintage art deco fancy shape pocket lighter for your collection. this lighter would be great as gift to any lighter collector. insurance ... read more
