    While the YPG says it’ll withdraw its “military advisers” (foreign PKK figures), Turkish sources say Turkish-backed forces will take over Manbij. The latter is nowhere near accurate. Unless things develop further, Turkey could only observe that YPG is no longer in control there

    US-Turkey talks about Manbij seem to have made some progress, but Turkey is back at exaggerating the extent of concessions made by the US-backed forces. To clarify:

    YPG says it’ll withdraw its “military advisors” from Manbij. By that, they mean “foreign fighters” (PKK). Last week, Assad also referred to Iranian forces as “advisors”. …

    There were talks a year ago between the SDF and some elements of the FSA (previously vetted by the US, but not involved in the Euphrates Shield) to join the SDF and take on a role in non-Kurdish areas. Not sure if those would now get involved, but recruiting is ongoing AFAIK.
