  17. LMAO. It took the Assad regime & allied militias 5 years of siege & air strikes, multiple chemical weapons attacks & Russian air cover to take over a few towns near Damascus from poorly armed & trained rebels (who were allowed to leave w/ their light weapons).

  18. The high level of sensitivity around these negotiations, I suspect, is not because it means Israel is (partially?) abandoning rebels & civilians it once supported, but because these talks mean Israel is accepting Iranian presence in Syria, just not in the south.
