It will quite a feather in the FM Çavuşoğlu and AKP's bonnet if, on June 4, US-Turkey sign a deal in which the SDF/YPG/MMC are to withdraw from Manbij. Think of the headlines in the pro-gov't press.

Gezi direnişleri sırasında polis megafonunu eline alıp saçmaladığında iyi niyetli olduğunu düşünmüştük ama şimdi cemaatin çetesinin megafonu elindeyken aynı şeyi düşünmüyoruz. Şöhret budalalığı da saçmalamaya yol açıyor. Mafyalarla mücadele edenlerin aklı da vicdanı da sağlamdır.

If this this is confirmed, than it gives a strong indication for Baghdadis whereabouts. Europarat valley pocket is sealed, while much bigger Hasakah desert pocket will give him a better hideout, at least for a while.

Something to note in the run up to the elections: The word “münafık” Erdoğan used a while ago to define people who’s not willing to vote for AKP still echoes around Turkey’s Islamist circles -and not welcome.

It really is a tribute to religious monoculture that so many seem to believe that the only reason an Armenian would say something they didn't like is because a Sunni cleric told him to.

Rough day for a columnist claiming to speak for the entire base, then not finding a single HDP supporter aggreing with him... At least demonstrated that HDP voters seem to be firmly committed to if voting goes to second round.

Can anyone explain why the Alpay case was more urgent and important than the Demirtaş case? I hope this question will not be regarded as counterproductive by the way

One may argue that there was an unimplemented Constitutional Court decision in favour of Alpay, but against Demirtaş. However, the ECHR has no rule requiring such a distinction. Moreover, Alpay had already been released due to the CC decision, but Demirtaş is still in detention.

Both cases were about illegal & prolonged detention. The ECtHR delivered the Alpay ruling on 20 March 2018 but still hasn’t ruled on the Demirtaş case over 2 months later and despite Demirtaş being a candidate for presidency.

Journalist Şahin Alpay applied (16538/17) to the ECtHR after politician Selahattin Demirtaş (14305/17). The Court submitted the Alpay case to the Turkish government for observations 2 weeks before the Demirtaş case (13 & 29 June 2017 respectively).
