it really shouldn't. like everything past the point of "pretending to be animals on the internet." is null and void to outsiders. and it should be inside but here we are.
There is NO WAY that when people first find out about furries, that they have any idea how complicated our internal politics are. Like, the fandom of talking animal people shouldn’t be complex enough that you could make a Ken Burns documentary about it.

I remember stopping and having a chat with you back at AC 2009 (maybe it was 2010), back when politics in the fandom doesnt matter. Now I feel like just going to a fur con would be dangerous for some.
