Toyota Opposes Possible U.S. Auto Tariffs

   New York/Washington, May 24 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> objected Thursday to a decision by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to consider imposing new tariffs on auto and auto parts imports on national security grounds.
   "Given the global nature of the automobile industry, and the fact that last year nearly 12 million vehicles were manufactured in the United States, such a determination seems implausible," the Japanese automaker said in a statement.
