Time waited for parts?

So far I have waited a week. Here is to hoping my vehicle is the exception.

 

What is it that's needed to be fixed or replaced?

 

I am not the exception. The Body shop just finished last week almost entirely because of waiting for parts. The shop guy said if the Tesla is drivable until the parts arrive, they can usually complete repairs after the parts arrive in 3 or less weeks, but when parts are needed and the Tesla is not drivable 2 months is not unusual. He mentioned an extreme case where all they needed was something like a door seal that took 3 months .

So far I have been impressed with how nice and accomidating Tesla service is for someone who lives 100 miles away, but parts logistics needs some serious improvements before I can call this a no compromise vehicle. I should mention I still love my Model X and am glad I got it. I just hope I never need parts again.

I recommend if you can still safely drive your Tesla while waiting for parts to convince the body shop to let you do this.

 

I needed a mirror skullcap replaced as mine had a scratch in it upon delivery. They had the part in two days. Guess I got lucky.

Took delivery 12/23/16 and had the typical issues - alignment of hood and chrome, failing driver's side door latch. Had a great SC experience (Marietta, GA) with daily text updates. They even found a fixed a few things I didn't notice.

Got a model S as a loaner, which was nice since I never test drove one. Definitely glad I went for the X.

 

I got same answer at my body shop that I need to wait at least 3 month to fix my rim and bumper ,seriously?I waited 3 months to get my X and after drive 1 month some stupid guy hit me and I will wait at least 3 more month ????Anybody have some tips to get out of situation???

 

I took my car to authorized repair shop December 4 and it has sat there waiting since then (almost two months at this point). The repair shop said they have no idea when Tesla will ship. In the past, it has taken 60-90 days for parts

 

I think if parts take over 2 weeks, Tesla should deliver a free equivalent or better Tesla to the owner until 2 weeks after the parts arrive at the body shop or the car is fixed which ever comes first. This should be regardless if it is a warranty issue or at fault accident. If Tesla had this policy, it would be a lot easier for me to full heartily recommend their cars to people I know and ask me.

 

Lol just 2 months? I've been waiting over FIVE months. At least i've been loaned an old Model S, but this is still a nightmare.

And requesting a 'free equivalent or better Tesla' while waiting is a pipe dream. If they had extra MXs to loan, then you wouldn't be waiting for parts in the first place.

 

Wow, 5 months! That sucks. Tell us your story. BTW I have been loaned a signature model X while my X was getting under warranty related adjustments before.

Manufacturing of whole vehicles is definitely ramping up, but as you and many others have experienced parts logistics is still a nightmare. Until there is parity between manufacturing whole vehicles and parts logistics, I simply suggest they generously loan vehicles. Something like this needs to happen if Tesla wants the next layer of less forgiving, less early adopters crowd to continue to sing their praises.

 

In the Tesla authorized body shop on December 20, 2016 for a minor damage on the rear door and quarter panel. Supposedly a 5-day repair. The car was rendered undriverable because the insurance wouldn't sign off on the estimate until the Tesla approved body shop took the car apart to show the damage and justify the estimate. Still waiting for parts with no ETA as of February 1, 2017. My body shop initially thought that they were just waiting for the rocker panel and have the other parts. But it turned out that Tesla sent them the wrong parts for the internal mechanism that wouldn't fit in mine.... It's a nightmare!

 

My MS been in north nj workshop since jan no improvements despite tesla's flamboyant email blah blah blah
