I don’t think it really is, tbh? I‘d say furries probably have the same prevalence of consuming child porn/ doing other similarly fucked up things as the general population. if anything, the difference is that the community doesn’t always know how to best address the problem-

-and imho that’s true of most social ingroups. Some people feel an urge to dismiss bad behaviors on the part of other group members as “just drama”, because they see conflict within the group as worse than letting the behavior continue, it’s a misplaced defensiveness

The part about not rocking the boat makes sense, but the first part surprises me. All I'll say is that these things don't sprout out of thin air, and although it's a problem elsewhere there's no reason to assume that it's at the same rates and for the same reasons.
