Not so surprising. The older generation is very protective of the Japanese identity and doesn't want to see internationalization ruin that. But I feel like the younger generation has a different perspective.

I sure hope so because the number of long term foreigners is growing fast and they’re marrying and having kids who deserve not to be second class

Well, I mean even first world countries don't have a firm grip on equality so let's not be too ambitious just yet.

*other first world countries I mean. The same could be said about people of color in North America, especially black, hispanic, muslim, indian, etc.

Doesn’t have to be perfect but I’d be happy with recognizing a permanent place for the kids and encouraging naturalization
