Lastly, it’s all right to ask questions of collection process, what will happen to the documents in the end etc. However, it’s unreasonable to expect engagement when you start by throwing accusations of theft and imperialism at the NYT.

In the end, it is conceited to pretend the documents I or others collect (or, for that matter, anything I write) is of vital intelligence value. It’s all just history, really.

Also, number of pages of documents: I believe this is including pages of book publications, and some of those IS books the NYT got are already published online by IS.

A birth certificate, or a grant of fertiliser to a farmer, is meaningless intelligence wise once IS loses control and reverts to insurgency mode. What is of interest are personnel files, lists of people actually in the organization etc.

Most of the documents the NYT has illustrate civilian administration from a variety of angles. They show civilian interactions with that administration, but that doesn’t make those civilians complicit in IS crimes.

Regarding the question of why many documents were allowed to be taken: what you should ask yourself is what is of real intelligence value to the Iraqi forces once IS loses territorial control of an area.

The persistence on this matter is frustrating. So a few things ought to be clarified. First, many documents are in fact burned for a variety of reasons:

Not unique. نفديك يا سوريا is generic on side of pro-govt forces. Does SSNP of Nusur al-Zawba’a want to build influence? Yes, but not in framework of deposing Assad.

The PTT building used to be Ahrar al-Sham’s physical therapy centre in Azaz (opposite the media office), and before the civil war it was the Azaz post office. See guys? My account is great for random info :P

As many things as there are that I've disagreed with Corbyn about, Labour absolutely should be repelling vacuous chancers like Dobby Travers (who were ten a penny in Labour students a decade ago btw).
