Do I need to if I use double verification?
-
You should setup 2FA especially if you use the same passwords everywhere
-
OK I'm really old so you're gonna have to explain that to me in old timers English.
-
How to use login verification aka 2FA or Two Factor Authentication. There are three kinds of authentication factors: • what you know (password/PIN code); • what you have (key/phone/credit card); • what you are (fingerprint/face/biometrics).https://help.twitter.com/en/managing-your-account/two-factor-authentication …
-
TL;DR: First, check your email address and your personal data are correct. Then: Settings > Account > Set up login verification + Require personal information to reset your password Google, Apple, Amazon… have similar protection (known as 2FA). https://twitter.com/settings/account …

During what time was this issue occurring?
-
Like... for a 10 month period in 2016? since 2006? What?
-
Also, will the logs be destroyed?
-
Please check out the blog post - it gives details:https://blog.twitter.com/official/en_us/topics/company/2018/keeping-your-account-secure.html …
-
okay so it says you "removed the passwords" but it does not describe the time period over which the logging was occurring?
-
I did read the post, and my question stands. "Removed the passwords" is imprecise. Does it mean removed from the data that gets logged from this point forward, or that existing logs containing passwords have been destroyed? What about backups of same?
-
I actually had the same question. I'm not tech savvy and it crossed my mind.
-
Also, logs get backed up just like everything else. Maybe stored in a database, as files on a backup server, compressed and archived elsewhere... I would like to know if our unmasked passwords were backed up in multiple locations over the years.
