Is it possible to customize the on-click action for notifications in the W10 notification bar? How are these even determined? Is it set by the app generating the notification, or by some general Windows setting?

Would like to configure it so when I click a "torrent complete" notification it will open the destination folder of that torrent rather than simply dismissing the notification and doing nothing else.

I own a Dell Latitude E6320 with a Core i7-2640M. It runs nicely and it's a fast little machine but it turns into a fucking space heater a minute after I turn it on, and I can't figure out why. The venting on the bottom and side have been cleared of dust when I took the whole thing apart. I cleaned out the fan with compressed air and powered on the board and watched it spin around as it booted before reassembly. Even now I can feel the hot air coming out. I applied new Arctic Silver 5 to the CPU and iGPU inside, but it's still hotter than Hell.

Why am I able to fry eggs on my laptop? Do guys think it's a broken sensor? I replaced the 500GB hard drive with a 128GB Samshit SSD. I haven't had it long enough to notice a difference with each disk, but I've seen computers that put a temp sensor on the disk inside. Could this be it? There's no extra devices or anything odd looking with the old disk. If there's something on the board you guys think would be busted, where would I look for it?

I know they're known for making shitty CISC housefires, but they usually don't reach 170+ degrees Fahrenheit with new paste and fan running full speed.

I just bought a new monitor for another computer I'm buying (which is also 60 hz) but when I have my HDMI plugged in so that the display goes to the monitor and not my laptop, i get some screen tearing. V-sync is on and all that jazz, not to mention there is no tearing on my laptop's screen. Any ideas? Btw, its a Dell S2318HN 23" monitor

Why are you using the -cp argument?
It's possible you didn't correctly name the class within your file ElementaryMath2.java
Keep in mind that the name of the class has to match the name of the file.
And you need a main method if you want to execute the program

I mainly use a 13" MBP in college, but I also have a gaming rig at home that I want to bring next semester. Only issue is that I can't stand the monitor, which is 1080p60hz, since it's so low-res and dull compared to my MBP. So I was leaning toward getting a 4k60hz monitor, but everyone seems to think that going from 60hz to 144hz is more important than 1440p to 4k.

I'm not sure whether I want 4k60hz or 1440p144z at this point, so what do y'all think would be more satisfying to use? I'm also considering how each would age better, i.e. Would 1440p be dead in 3 years? Or will 60hz be the new 30hz? etc.

I have a 290x CF right now, but I might get a high-end Volta card once the series comes out this fall.

Would you say there's a big difference between 2160p and 1440p at 27"? Pixel density's the only reason to get the 4k monitor at that size due to scaling.

I personally would never get a monitor that required scaling to a non-integer factor, so it might be better to consider the distance you want to sit for your monitor & the field of view you want to encompass, then work backwards with an idea of how much PPI you want to decide on your size+resolution.

I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about this

My screens hooked up to my GPU had been having problems buzzing and going black prompting a restart. Today they wont work and I had to connect an hdmi to my cpu to check my bios. On that it doesn't detect the gpu, taking it apart and reinserting everything still doesn't work and the fans do not spin when powered on. Everything works fine otherwise.

Is my gpu dead? It's an r9 390 if that helps.

You didn't need to say that.

US is probably the default. For some reason a dev for windows decided CTRL + SHIFT would be the keyboard shortcut for cycling through keyboard layouts. If your keyboard is a different layout you probably hit these keys by accident.

Go into your control panel's language settings and click to the "advanced" section where you can turn off the stupid shit.

na, that's totally normal.
make sure shit is locked down before opening them up
- use keys and disable passwords for ssh
- use a firewall and allow only what you need through it (for example, 22, 80, and 443)
- don't assume unadvertised services won't be found
- a database should not be publically accessible, firewall it, bind it to localhost, or just plain limit it to unix socket connections only
- if you want things like phpmyadmin/webmin/etc, keep them firewalled, and use ssh to access them by port forwarding

Formula in O3 should be something like
=SUM(L2:L1048576)-SUM(J2:J1048576)
SUM() ignores empty cells so you can just get it to sum the entire column (skipping the first).

I'm not exactly sure what the max row number is but if you want to check you can enter
=SUM(
Then click a cell like L2
Then press CTRL + DownArrow a couple time until you've selected the entire column
now close the bracket with )

Windows Defender plus Malwarebytes (free/non premium trial). But don't use the realtime stuff in Malwarebytes - its real strength is in scanning for and removing threats; no need to have two things checking everything you do in the background.

Those are pretty much it. They're marketed to corporations and so they make special concession, similar to how windows enterprise allows a lower telemetry setting. Most everyone else mines your info to build better AV databases, and sometimes for other reasons.

Unlike most other AVs, Malwarebytes realtime scanning generally doesn't conflict with other realtime scanning. I just don't see the point in running two at once, since both sap system resources.

Premium can also be worthwhile if you want scans run automatically on a schedule.

JavaScript is a security nightmare, and in general you should block it, unless absolutely necessary for site functionality.

Ublock’s advanced mode might be able to work as a script blocker, if not get umatrix which is like double advanced ublock.
Or noscript which is easier to understand at first.
Both have the exact same technical features for the most part, it’s just more annoying to do certain thngs in one over the other.

Blocking JavaScript will break most of the “modern” web until you whitelist the scripts needed.
It’s generally pretty easy to figure out which ones are necessary.

You were actually completely right. Just disallowing the scripts killed every ad immediately. It also killed the thumbnails of the videos lower on the page, though. That doesn't go away until you restart your browser.

uBlock advanced/"medium mode" is easier than umatrix, but you have to know what you're doing in either case. There's functionality that isn't obvious without looking at the documentation.

I'd make sure you don't have some kind of malware on your computer if you're getting hit that hard. Also make sure you're using most of the english filters in ublock.

Unique within your local net. Like, you can't be 10.0.0.5 and another guy on the same local network is 10.0.0.5 too -- that would break things. Ask your package manager what packages have files in /usr/share/gimp. Uninstall and then reinstall each of those packages. You should now have your directory back.

I saw this a while back and I've always wanted to make something like this ever since but I haven't had the chance to try anything. Now that I've got a new laptop, I want to give ricing it a try. Problem is, I haven't got the faintest clue where to start. I've never tried Linux before in my life and coding is completely alien to me (but I'm open to learning new things). Obviously you can't have multiple devices running conflicting IPs, that goes without saying since it's true for literally anything. But you can have multiple voip services running off a single device or LAN. There aren't any special IP rules for VOIP.

I have a MongoDB database with documents that contain a date, and an array of labels/tags (as strings).
There are about 1000 labels and 3 million documents.
I will need to send this to a Postgre SQL database and some guy will use the data to query stuff like how many documents there are with labels x & y and month z.
If I'm trying to optimize query speed, can I just create a column where I'll store my array of strings or should I create one boolean column per label (or have one table per label ?)

Since I moved everything over to my new computer and factory reset my old one, I was planning to use the latter to test out Linux. Still, I'd prefer to continue using Windows if I can.

It doesnt work anyway, the folder was created by gimp, but somehow I cannot reinstall it. I've seen some people having the same problem, but is something so specific that the only solution I've found is getting the /usr/share/gimp folder with someone who already have gimp.

I have a very odd issue with my monitor.
I'm on W10, and whenever the screen turns back on (after turning on the system or just waking up from inactivity), the integrated speakers of my monitor will start doing a buzzing sound.
The brighter the screen, the louder the buzz. I tried disabling the monitor's speakers from the sound playback devices without success.
I did find a temporary fix though. If I switch to the monitor's speakers then manually set the volume from whatever it's set at (even zero) to zero (by nudging it a little), this will stop the buzzing sound, until the monitor is turned back on. I made a PowerShell script that does this automatically at system startup, but I'd rather disable those speakers once and for all, any idea?

I want to make a simple web interface for, say, tracking and updating my Goodreads list or something. Preferably I want it to be in an isolated folder that I can copy paste anywhere. I also need filesystem access but don't want to deal with server-side shit.

The idea is I could just copy a folder with an html file and a js file maybe, chuck it somwhere and access it through a browser. Click on buttons to update or fetch data through Goodreads API or something. I need filesystem to store a local copy of data though for when I'm offline.

What technologies should I be looking into? I looked into web storage API and IndexedDB API but I'm not sure if this is the best way.

I'm freaking out here.
So today I saw there was a warning sign near the Avast icon in the taskbar (as you can see in pic related), I click on it and it tells me that the "Suspect Actions" agent has been deactivated.
Wtf is this all about? I don't recall ever deactivating anything, and I'm not sure if the warning sign only appeared today or it was there before.
I just want to know what could've caused this, last thing I installed this week are Pale Moon and VTM Bloodlines Unofficial Patch, could one of them be the cause?

If you want it to be in a folder on disk any web storage of web db API isn't going to help.

I guess you could load a json-file from disk with the flag in chrome that allows file access. Match and update with the Goodreads API, and then add an export/download button to download the json back to disk (possibly manual step to overwrite previously loaded json).
