There are a LOT of self absorbed white people who think this entire planet was made for them—they’ve never experienced “racism” in their life, so anyone who doesn’t welcome them with open arms is “racist”. People of colour experience FAR worse than we do. All over the world.
To call it racism is to dismiss the Japanese perspective entirely. They are not hateful or negative. They are cautious of people not understanding THEM, and this is island is their safe place. Maybe I’ve been here too long and my brain has gone soft but...

Just because they aren’t thrilled to have you here doesn’t mean they’re racist. They aren’t executing you, shooting up your communities, or creating legal double standards that benefit themselves & punishing minorities. They don’t have to like you. But they aren’t harming you.
