OpenVZ 2018

KVM 2018
|
Network Info:
For many months, we’ve been recommending this 2GB OpenVZ platform from HiFormance for cloud-based PBX deployments. So long as you stick with CentOS 6 and not 7, It’s been a flawless platform. CentOS 7 still has some issues with SolusVM. Aside from that, it’s the best bargain on the planet.
What sort of issues have you seen with Centos 7?
Atlanta and Dallas are Out Of Stock on $10/yr plan :(
no money back on any service
If I go with Pre-pay 3-years, how much does it cost after 3-years?
The price will stay the same :)
so…I have to pay for 3-years when I renew?
Looks like it.
Server has stopped working!!!!!!!!!!
I have bought VPS on HiFormance. More than 2 hours ago, my server suddenly stopped working. I tried to use the Hiformance SolusVM Control Panel at https://myvm.hiformance.com/ but could not handle it.
I have sent a ticket but no one answered, chat no one answered. Quality of service should be reviewed. Suggestions to consider before buying.
Samething happened to me. I bought one of the yearly servers. First it didn’t work at all, reinstalled os and used `reconfigure networking` option to get it to respond. After I did that in less than 45 minutes the server stopped responding. Only available using the HTML5 console, no response from the outside.

Hello,
We are very sorry about the inconvenience Hao & Max. Hao I believe we spoke on live chat and our technicians were able to solve that issue. Max, if you want to open a ticket or provide the ticket ID I would be more than happy to resolve the issues you are having.
Regards,
Kyle
I ordered around three hours ago but my VPS is still not provisioned. Can someone look into this for me please?
Thanks.
Anthony,
I don’t see any orders under your name. Could you please open a ticket with the account you used and let me know the ticket ID?
Regards,
Kyle
Hi, on the KVM 2018 system (as above) I have looked at but in the OS selection apart from loads of Linux could someone explain what does TRIAL means on the Win Server editions (2008 or 2012) or even Windows Test
I have been told the TRIAL is the actual 180day Trial version which means after 180 the OS need to be reinstalled.
Can anyone help with this question.
After the 3rd year, what will be the renewal fee. Will it be roughly the same as it is now or will it jump up as these are offer prices.
If I choose LinuxMist as my OS on the order form and say in a months time I want to try Ubuntu, is this possible in the control pannel to delete one OS and then install another, or is the OS have to be the one I choose on the order form.
Forget the question about renewal as I see it is answered up above.
Yes, we have a fully managed control panel you can reinstall your VPS at anytime.
See benchmark below. Seems sadly the OpenVZ packages are horribly oversold. The CPU is extremely slow and network isnt fantastic either but you cant expect much for $10 a year.

Please submit a ticket, these are not normal statistics for our service. Our technicians will address this promptly.
Is there any way we can get a kernel >2.6 with the OpenVZ plan? Great deal otherwise
Yes, just open a ticket and asked to be moved.
Hey Kyle, until when this deal is offered?
Thanks
We will run this deal for a little while :)

any ddos protection?
No sorry, DDoS protection is not included.
Are in cc buffalo there is no basic ddos protection as they announce?
The site has some errors, was finalizing the purchase with paypal without making a registration. How will they identify the payment?
When I used the Paypal method of paying for KVM-2018 the HiFormance order form had a problem with my telephone number. Being in the UK is did not seem to want to accept phone numbers in UK format (with or without the +44 prefix), in the end Kyle on live support told me to put their 1-866 number in and this worked. Also bear in mind if the order form rejects (ie to the phone number) most to the fields are wiped so you have to re-enter
I bought 2 linux servers in Dallas, have a great connection to Brazil, activation is super fast. I recommend.
The windows is listed as trial.
– when does the trial expire?
– what is the cost of renewal after this point?
I have brought the KVM 2018 and hopefully answer your questions.
The trial is the standard Microsoft 180 trial for Microsoft Server 2012. You just need to wipe and reinstall when trial ends. I believe there is a method through licesning MS if you buy a MS license.
I have just messed up my MS 2012 installation, so I am reinstalling the VPS but this time choose MS Server 2008 as in the Control Panel this showed this to be NOT the trial version. I don’t know yet as after the install it then wanted to do a chkdsk, so it’s slowly work through this at the moment.
Oh, and the 3 year renewal price is indetical to what you pay now. I got this confirmed with Kyle via online support, also halfway up this page is also a confirmation that the renal price stays the same
Windows Trial lasts 180 days :) I think most just refresh the trial.
Up to a very rocky start!
Yesterday, I signed up for a 3 year VPS to take advantage of this offer. The box was was provisioned immediately, but network access was not enabled until about six hours later. I think that’s OK considering the very low cost ($10/y). Unfortunately, just a few hours later, I got a ticket with the following message:
“We have detected a large volume of outgoing mail spam originating from (…my vps’ IP…) that has caused a poor mail reputation. Our system has automatically applied a null route to the specific IP address until a resolution can be reached. Please update us as soon as possible.”
I replied within less than an hour of that, with sufficient evidence (talosintelligence.com/reputation_center) that the high e-mail traffic from this IP address was indeed occurring since April 5th, though I just signed up for this VPS on April 11th; i.e. I had no control over that IP address between 4/5 and 4/11.
So from my end, it looks like I got a fishy IP address assigned to my VPS box and access to it is now disabled due to no fault from my side. As of this writing, there is no network access in or out, so it is a useless VPS. I hope this will be corrected before the end of the 3 year period…
No network had me stumped for a few hours, I tried reinstalling the VM several times thinking it was an issue with the install, however I then changed the Network card frome the Virtio network adapter in the Settings tab of the VM control panel (at myvm.hiformance.com) to Intel Pro/1000 and then rebooted and then the OS say the adapter and installed the drivers and then I got network access running fine.
Hi Peter,
Where did you change from in MyVM. I couldn’t find anywhere where you are able to change the network adapter.
Kind regards
Update: This morning (4/13) I got an e-mail stating that the null route was removed from the VPS. All seems to be running as advertised now.
Hmm does it count for this? http://hiformance.com/service-level-agreement
“Should transit to Virtual or Dedicated Server become unavailable for a cumulative period up to one hour in any one calendar month, the customer will receive a refund equivalent to one day of the customer’s pro-rated Recurring Monthly Fees for that month. The customer will receive an additional refund of one day of the pro-rated Internet Connectivity Recurring Monthly Fees for each additional hour, or portion thereof, of unavailability.”
Just bought the $10 offer, pay using PayPal. The server get provisioned immediately. Also has open a ticket to increase the RAM as per the offer. The ticket is responded in less than 15 mins, despite that it is Saturday morning. So far I’m happy
Will you Re-Stock on the Sold Out options? Or is this offer until supplies last?
After spending two days with HiFormance, I’d thought I’d leave some feedback. Perhaps too quick, use as you see fit.
I signed up to the $10 deal and it was provisioned very quickly. Always great to have your VPS ready within seconds. I was able to SSH to the box and within a few seconds the connection dropped. I thought it may have been my ISP connect, though SSH sessions to other VPSs I have remained connected. With some troubleshooting and testing, I managed to deduce that I couldn’t ping any host other than my VPS itself. This was verified using the native SSH terminal provided within MyVM.
Raising a ticket to report the issue was responded very rapidly, especially in the weekend which is a plus point in my book. However, the original VPS was replaced by another one, not once, not twice, but three times. Each VPS had the exact same issue as before which leaves the impression that the support team do not take any time to investigate but merely pop out another new build expecting the build to go away. Something worthwhile mentioning is that this happened across multiple underlying hosts, which suggests they may have some internal routing/networking issues. Other responses included “The server is stable now” which in my mind suggest reinforces the idea that no real investigation was performed and that I had to highlight the frequency of the disconnections seemed to be constant.
I find it unlikely that multiple installations would face the same problem and some underlying issues are not addressed. For these reasons I cannot recommend them, though others may have more fortune than I have experienced.
I signed up too. For $10 a year, I am prepared to cut them a fair bit of slack.
I run a LMS and worry my first provider may suddenly go to Silicon Heaven. This VPS was to allow rsync of database dumps and crucial files. I also set up a second copy of my LMS so I could restore and get myself back on line fairly quickly if need be. I may also be a little adventurous in changing this arounf around – I am more cautious on my production server
I did have a few issues in the first few hours but tickets I raised were answered satisfactorily. The LMS I installed runs OK and although I may never use it, it gives me some peace of mind.
For the price I think they are a great deal. As long as they can keep it running…
Any chance additional OpenVZ will become available in Dallas? Is IPv6 available?
VPS is garbage. Already moved nodes with them once and the new node they put me on is even worse than the first. See for yourself – I requested a full refund.

They are a joke, they even do not know how to fix the issues on their own node. I do not know how will this company will last. Ordered a VPS which never worked. Support tech could not fix the issue, always changes IP unfortunately those changed IP doesnt work as well lol. Do not waste your $5 and your time.
The provide is now refusing to give me a refund. So I will simply open a paypal dispute. What a bunch of crooks lol.
OK, now for my 4 day review, I will cover the customer support aspects, as I only really got settled in yesterday.
First thing to note is that Debian 9 Minimal template is a little borked. It is Minimal, without even an sshd, and you can’t re-install the x64 variant from the control panel.
So my VPS was provisioned within 15 minutes, and after figuring out the above note, I could not use my VPS as it apparently had been provisioned without a network interface. Might be something wrong with the Debian 9 x64 template, since it’s only available in sign up and not as a rebuild.
I put in a ticket and it was answered and trouble fixed within 4 hours, overnight. Cool. But here’s the thing, I don’t think he wholly read the ticket. I thought I would be slick and submit all three of my queries in one ticket, since they would probably all require the same solution of re-provisioning. I asked to have the networking fixed, be moved to a Docker enabled node(more on that later, oh boy), and get my LowEndBox offer of double SSD. Only the networking issue was even acknowledged.
OK, fine. One issue per ticket, fair enough. So I submitted my remaining issue as new tickets. But first, some backstory. Before I purchased this $10/yr special, I used a disposable email ( I do this because of another offer that turned out to be a spam farm) to ask the sales team if the OpenVZ plan allowed for Docker, which if you use that you know it’s rare to find up-to-date OpenVZ with kernel 3.10+. I wasn’t expecting much, I was just testing if I got a manned response or an inbox of enlargement offers. Lo-and-behold, I got an answer from an L3 specialist(forgot his name…) who said they supported docker on a node in their California center, and I could open a ticket and ask for migration. I got so caught up in the excitement of finally having a cheap Docker VPS that I forgot to preserve that email, and now I wish I did because….
I went and asked for that migration, to which the techs asked if they should just terminate and rebuild, OK, sure, and they double verified that I was OK with the data loss, and then I got the new panel account and was told it was done. So I looked, and noticed I was moved to Buffalo, NY, which was not CA, but cooler if it worked because it’s nearer to me. And then I checked the kernel…and it was not newer. I replied to the ticket, specifically mentioning that I needed a newer kernel OpenVZ, that I had been told by a level 3 that it was possible, and the response? Switch to a KVM plan.
In all, I’m not really mad. The entire VPS market has been stuck on OpenVZ 6 for years, it is what it is and for $10/yr it is a great deal. But the support could use a little more cohesion, and to pay full attention to what’s being asked so they don’t cause unneeded delays, and not be afraid to pass me up to a higher level of support, especially when one of them is being mentioned. I got an L3 to respond to a sales request, probably because sales didn’t know what Docker was, but have been in L1 ever since.
Still a great deal, paying $0.83 per month when a similar plan costs $10/m. Would be an out of this world deal with Docker support, but I didn’t really expect it to begin with.
TL;DR: You get what you pay for, which is more effort than paying more but more value when you get it working. Support could use work but responds quickly. Real Life(TM) benchmarks showing good speeds while I’m installing and setting up.
Currently 4/5 Stars.
The same thing happened to me, I asked to move to 3.2+ kernel, they said ok, then moved me, but it was still 2.x. So I asked again and they asked if I was using Docker, I just said I wanted kernel 3.2+ again and they moved me again, this time to a kernel with 4.4.0. I got responses from a different person (or at least a different username) each time I replied to the ticket, so maybe just ask again.

Been over a week on the KVM-2018 package. I have reinstalled the OS several times as I want to play with the different OS and finally decided I would stay on Win Server 2012. I have purchased a Retail key for Server 2012 for $20 but yet to add it to my VPS until I have everything I need sorted and working. It will become my small email and web server.
I do like this VPS, I used Windows Desktop connection to access the server. Performance seems OK with just a little mouse lag but not a problem,
I would recommend this KVM-2018 offer. During provision I order 3 years and opened a ticket to double my memory to 4Gb.
Unfortunately I have to agree with negative comments above. I have a month of windows VPS with Server 2012 x64 preinstalled.
Deployment took just a minute, although it turned out all I got was a faulty VPS which stayed offline whatever I tried.
Support was quick to respond to my ticket (about 50 minutes) and completed a “resetup” on a different node. This time it went online but was unable to boot (hdd – not bootable). I was trying to reinstall OS but it was unsuccessful. At the last resort I have chosen a different OS – Win Server 2008 x32 and it did work. Looks like 2012 ISO is faulty, I thought, at least the one accessible from OS installation in VPS control panel.
Also, even though they have a collection of bootable DVDs that you can mount before boot, if you load any of it the VPN is suddenly cant be restarted and stays offline constantly. If you unmount DVD, VPN can be started again.
After I have booted to WinServer 2008 and installed network adapter’s drivers, I have found out that there is not network access – gateway is dead, even though DHCP server was able to configure network adapter correctly (according to VPS control panel network tab). During this time (about 6 hrs) several messages were posted to the ticket, another ticket was created, but I got no respond whatsoever.
I should wait until tomorrow hoping this will be resolved. If not, I will have to file a paypal dispute, as well as previous poster… Shame…
OK, my VPS was reset one more time and mentioned problems were resolved.
How long is this promotion good for?
I have been a HiFormance client for several months now. I have multiple VPS’s in all of their locations.
Rarely do I have an issue, and when I do, my tickets are typically answered in an hour or less, which considering the cost of the VM’s is more than I ever expected.
All of the nodes run great, they seem super solid. I had one instance where I had asked the HiFormance staff to move my VM to another node.
They did so really fast (In less than 30 minutes) while retaining all of my IP addresses.
I will continue to use HiFormance for all of my U.S. Hosting needs.
