    1. Hello everyone, I wanted to share what I learned from the more than 15,000 pages of ISIS documents that my team and I unearthed over five different trips to Iraq. We recovered the records in 11 different cities and towns. First up, how we found them.

  2. I don’t remember ever seeing such a strongly-worded tweet from an official account. A sign of the times we live in, where the assault on the independent press is unrelenting.

Things we're staggered by: The courage and impact of the women who came forward. The changes we see stirring. The work of all the other winners, and the might of a free and independent press. This prize.

  13. 7. Authorities in Niger are saying they are still working to ID the man they believe is Doundoun. I’m guessing that means Doundoun (or the guy they think is Doundoun) isn’t helping. If it’s really him, this is a big deal.

  14. 6. The ambush that occurred hours later happened in Tongo Tongo. The village chief was later arrested. In his phone, authorities found numbers associated with Doundoun and other terrorists from the group:

  15. 5. American intelligence was tracking him and on Oct 3, a phone that Doundoun was using lit up not far from Tongo Tongo, and the US scrambled to get troops there to capture him. That was what set in motion the unfortunate sequence of events that ended with 4 US soldiers dying.

  16. Doundoun is suspected to have played a role in the kidnapping of American aid worker Jeffrey Woodke, the only US citizen to be kidnapped by either al-Qaeda or ISIS in the Sahel. In February, I interviewed two ISIS prisoners in Niger who confirmed Doundoun was holding Woodke:

  17. 3. Among them was a man that matched Doundoun’s description. Doundoun is a former cattle herder from the Peul ethnic group. He has risen through the ranks of a group that once was under the al-Qaeda banner before pledging allegiance to ISIS in 2015.

  18. 2. How did this happen? Nigerien officials tell us that a few weeks ago they rounded up a bunch of suspected militants in the Tillaberi region, the area of Niger that abuts the Mali border. That’s also where Tongo Tongo is located, the place where 4 Americans died.

  19. 1. An important development in Niger: and I confirmed that Nigerien authorities *may* have arrested Doundoun Cheffou, the ISIS-linked militant whom US troops were chasing in Niger on the day they got ambushed and four soldiers were killed.

We are casting a new hashtag to hail the "Revolution of Dumpers" as literally called in Mosul. This campaign started with a 2$ campaign and is doing miracles in Ancient Mosul. Follow the hashtag to see the results.
