Vice finance minister likely to resign over alleged sexual harassment
The Yomiuri ShimbunAdministrative Vice Finance Minister Junichi Fukuda is expected to resign over allegations reported by a weekly magazine that he sexually harassed female journalists, The Yomiuri Shimbun learned on Monday.
The 58-year-old top bureaucrat in the Finance Ministry is expected to tender his resignation to take de facto responsibility for the allegations.
As the ministry faces an issue over the sale of state land to private school operator Moritomo Gakuen, there is a growing view that it has become difficult for Fukuda to continue leading the ministry’s efforts to deal with the scandal.
