    Trump’s decision to launch airstrikes against Syria without Congress’s approval is illegal. We need to stop giving presidents a blank check to wage war. Today it’s Syria, but what’s going to stop him from bombing Iran or North Korea next?

    Policies shaped around the false hope that Iran would change its behaviour or become less criminal as a result of engagement/economic bribery are among the main reasons the region is in chaos. The Iranian regime took Obama for a ride and his administration put on their seatbelts.

    Something I often think about is how various Syria allies must hold their nose while partners use certain weapons based on personal experience. For example, Iran is vehemently opposed to chemical weapons. And Hezbollah to cluster munitions.

    The goal of the allied strikes in Syria was the Syrian chemical and biological weapons infrastructure. The use of chemical weapons can't be trivialized. Let's not forget the lessons of WW1.
