could SDNY have done this on Mueller's behalf - as cooperation between law enforcement - or do you read this as definitely a new/separate investigation?

he wouldn't need SDNY prosecutors to do it on his behalf. the FBI would execute it for Mueller if it was his investigation.

It has nothing to do with the affair. It has everything to do with money changing hands before the election as well as threats of bodily injury. That’s a crime.
