I usually react to seeing/hearing 朝鮮 with more than a bit of side-eye because it seems mainly used by rabid anti-Korean racists, but I see a trending topic about Korean artists going to 北朝鮮 (North Korea). Does it not carry the same connotation in that case?
Remember once seeing such a list (used by NHK etc) where even terms like 部落民 were flagged as “to be avoided”. Any dictionary worth its salt should warn you against controversial uses.

Alas I got burned by crowdsourced ones like Jim Breen's too many times with esoteric words crowding out more common ones, so even when I use a better one I wonder. Also my paper ones are mostly in the closet.

Also I don't have a tv here, so I definitely don't watch enough to know what's ok on tv.

Haven’t owned a TV since... err, ever. (Definitely not about to start in Japan)
