      Kozukappara is a reason for being undesirable, but its location was purely pragmatic, it was outside of Edo and on a major highway.

      Sure! Kyōto (Heian-Kyō) is a good example. I've noticed it in other castle towns, like Matsumoto. Kumamoto Castle still has its Kimon Gate

          There was also an execution ground near Shinagawa, to the Southeast (as well as cattle slaughterhouses)
