SURRO Linux Development
This gofundme exists to fund the development of a new Linux Distribution called SURRO Linux.
Surro Linux aims to be fully LSB 5.0 and FHS 3.0 compliant, with an rpm-based package manager. This will make it the most package-compatible operating system ever created.
Since it will be LSB 5 compliant, that will immediately let it use packages from any LSB 3 compliant distribution and will make it the first, and likely only, LSB 5 certified distribution if this project is successful.
Along the way, an effort is being made to create a system that will also let you build your own Linux distribution as well.
I'm going to build it anyway, the world deserves it, but, if enough is donated I'll be able to devote more time to it -- and be able to write better code due to the extra time able to be put into it. Whether you donate or not though -- I'm building it!
I'm aiming for a million dollar budget to get to alpha release to cover my time spent working on it, branding contracting, public relations and support staff if possible-- as well as potential acquisition of projects that will be of benefit to the open source community if they can be integrated into the SURRO Linux Distribution.
You can stay up to date on development progress at news.silogroup.org, which is a content aggregator for all of my projects.
