Checking my computer logs for the year - happy to see that I cut my time on Facebook by 50% compared to 2016 - down to 34 hours, with half of that time dedicated to helping a dear friend in his final weeks with us. Typical average of 90 mins per month, down from 5hrs p/m in 2016

There's been a corresponding leap in productivity, although less social / news exposure not necessarily the cause, rather it's that we've had a lot more requests this year for creative services. Happy to be opening an office next month (home has been taken over by the business)

It's been very convenient having an office and workshop within our apartment, but it's got a bit ridiculous - we need to expand. Found a place about 40 meters from our front door so the morning commute won't be too much of a drag :-)

Excited to see what we can do in 2018. Having never actively marketed our services before it'll be interesting to see what we can do if we actually start telling people who we are and what we offer. What a novel idea...

The issue when I first quit my regular job (teaching) and started working freelance was that I didn’t know what I could offer (my degree was Japanese studies). It’s taken 6 years to figure out what we’re good at, get better at it, and build a good client base. Long way to go tho!

As a foreigner, Japan’s a great place for taking that risk and trying something you’re passionate about: can always go back to teaching if all else fails (and if teaching is your passion then it’s the perfect place )
