so harry never got to go to amusement parks as a kid and he’d always have to stay home when the dursleys took dudley right? so after the war he kinda decides he wants to make up for all the lost childhood experiences with his real family
and on top on that list is go to an amusement park with someone
honestly, he wasn’t expecting to be on this trip alone with draco malfoy. it wasn’t like they weren’t friends; more like they were never hung out by themselves and the air was still thick and heavy with everything that had happened between them (even though they’d both apologized a hundred times).
but hermione had an important presentation and ron was babysitting victoire and dominique and ginny was backpacking with luna and… all his friends were busy but draco. so draco it was.
harry was planning a road trip and goddamn if he was going to let draco ruin his perfect adventure because of his distaste of muggle vehicles. so they piled into the car and drove, at first in silence. (then harry put on some music, and draco called it peasant-like , and they didn’t stop talking until they both realized they were breathless)
anyway anyway. harry is so hype! so hype. he buys every ice cream flavor and draco can’t help but catch a bit of his infectious enthusiasm.
that is, until he sees the rides.
“do you expect me to go up a flimsy track a hundred meters in the air balanced on a cart that’s probably going to tip us over the moment we get on it?”
harry has to drag him on. he’s literally crying. the Great Prince of Slytherin, reduced to tears over a rollercoaster.
draco screams so loud and holds harry and harry doesn’t exactly mind….also it’s one of those rides with cameras installed along the way and it takes photos of you and they.. let’s just say harry now has records of one of draco’s not particularly handsome looks
anyway draco’s all wobbly-legged so they go to the smaller rides that are meant for little kids and harry pulls him onto the carousel and they’re sitting way too close together but it’s strangely comforting, for the both of them. the sun’s just beginning to set and the air smells of cotton candy and amusement park music is playing in the distance and they’re… happy.
after the ride’s over they scramble off quickly and don’t talk to each other throughout the next few rides
right before they’re about to close up, draco says hesitantly, “… do you wanna go on the rollercoaster again?”
harry smirks. “thought you’d never ask.”
they sit down next together and the ride attendant pulls down the bar and draco suddenly crosses his fingers, leans over, and kisses harry
and when they finally get off the rollercoaster they’re dizzy from more than just the height.
