smallnoddy 0 Report post Posted September 15 Hello Everyone. I am in desperate need of help. Following are the details of my environment :- 1) uTorrent is v.3.3.2 (build 30180) (I know its a very old version of uTorrent but it is working fine for me and also I have a huge number of torrents loaded in it and migrating it to a new version is not that easy and I may end up loosing some torrents). 2) Gigabyte H77M-D3H 3) Core i7 4) 4GB RAM 5) Windows 10 Professional 64 bit 6) Internet speed is 2 MBPS (1:1) I have been using uTorrent for a very long time (more than 10 years) and it was working very good. I have 12243 torrents loaded and till about a year ago where it suddenly started crashing pointing to the ntdll.dll file in the C:\Windows\system32 directory. Following are the details of the error from the Windows "Event Viewer" :- Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: DD-MMM-YY HH:MM:SS Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: xxx-XX Description: Faulting application name: uTorrent.exe, version: 3.3.2.30180, time stamp: 0x524c8eda Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.15063.608, time stamp: 0x802f667e Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00042dd5 Faulting process id: 0x1ce0 Faulting application start time: 0x01d32e020b44d0fa Faulting application path: C:\Users\nmr\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: 79a6eec8-50aa-46d7-b7f4-057059c42c7f Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="YYYY-MM-DDTOHH:MM:SS.XXXXXXXXXX" /> <EventRecordID>6058</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>xxx-XX</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>uTorrent.exe</Data> <Data>3.3.2.30180</Data> <Data>524c8eda</Data> <Data>ntdll.dll</Data> <Data>10.0.15063.608</Data> <Data>802f667e</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>00042dd5</Data> <Data>1ce0</Data> <Data>01d32e020b44d0fa</Data> <Data>C:\Users\nmr\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe</Data> <Data>C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll</Data> <Data>79a6eec8-50aa-46d7-b7f4-057059c42c7f</Data> <Data> </Data> <Data> </Data> </EventData> </Event> Whenever I start uTorrent, it crashes within 30 minutes pointing to the ntdll.dll file. Don't ask me to remove the uTorrents that has completed downloading because it is easier for me to search for study notes, materials, tutorials videos, technical books etc ...) which I have collected over a period of time and which I don't want to loose. Kindly help.

smallnoddy 0 Report post Posted September 16 So do I need to upgrade to uTorrent 3.4.7.42330 ? My issue with the upgrade is that I may end up loosing all the torrents as loading all the 12243 torrents again uTorrent 3.4.7.42330 is not possible. Can I copy the settings.dat, resume.dat etc ... files into the new home directory of uTorrent 3.4.7.42330 from the earlier home directory of uTorrent v.3.3.2 build (30180) and all my 12243 will be available for me in the new uTorrent 3.4.7.42330 ? DreadWingKnight 288 Report post Posted September 16 You need to update to CURRENT. The cutoff last year was the version you specified. The supported version cutoff is anything older than current stable. As of this posting, the oldest supported version is Version 3.4.8 (build 42445)
smallnoddy 0 Report post Posted September 16 But will I get all the torrent in Version 3.4.8 (build 42445) if I copy the settings.dat, resume.dat etc ... files into the new home directory of uTorrent 3.4.7.42330 from the earlier home directory of uTorrent v.3.3.2 build (30180) ? First off read the utorrent migration instructions before anything is said or done so you have a better knowledge to know what to do first here. DreadWingKnight 288 Report post Posted September 16 A regular upgrade to the current version will simply use your existing settings files.
