Comte Audoin de Dampierre "Cuvée des Ambassadeurs" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne (Previously $37)

SKU #1002967 90 points Wine Spectator

Bread dough, pencil shavings, candied citrus and honey flavors mark this expressive Champagne, which has a chalky underpinning and a long, nutty finish. (11/2009)

K&L Notes

What a deal! The last time we had this, it was a lot more expensive and not all Grand Cru! This is a wonderful non-vintage all Chardonnay Champagne from Comte Audoin Dampierre. It is very pretty, polished Champagne and it has lots of verve for such an amiable wine. It is hazelnutty and leesy but not at all oxidative. Yum! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Champagne

- The French region of Champagne (comprised of the towns of Rheims, Epernay, and Ay) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced.
