So many times this year, I’ve tried to solve other people’s problems, only to feel like a failure when they still wind up unhappy.

If someone is experiencing bad luck, or a bad phase, it’s ok to show support. But some people will just choose to be unhappy no matter what.
-
I also realized that by solving other people’s problems for them, you rob them of the chance to overcome hurdles and grow up on their own.

There's a saying that goes something like, "You can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves"
-
I like that one, and also “don’t light yourself on fire to keep others warm.”
-
Yeah, you should light them on fire instead. That way, they will stay warm for the rest of their life :)
