I've been thinking a lot lately that I want to open our apartment more for people who need to just come by and talk to someone or have tea.

I've been thinking of how I could be helpful to those who suffer with the stress of living in jpn, or making friends, or just need to talk.
Only problem is that I'd need to protect us from possible address or personal info leakage online. Would making people sign an NDA be weird?

An NDA won't deter nutters though, and going to court is no fun at all. I can't really think of a way to do this safely at your own home :(

Anything you do in your home is going to be an added risk so I was thinking of some way to do the same thing but not at home. /shrug

Might be safer to do it in some public space. Bringing strangers into your home is never a good idea

Have to agree. Maybe you can have a number of cafés you as your go-tos. It only takes one bad apple to ruin it.

Perhaps add a couple of vetting steps and a quick Skype screen. A lot of crazies out there.

Also, good on you for doing this. This year, when I've got a feeling someone was alone on the road I've reached out. Makes a difference.

Not worth the risk IMO. Perhaps you could do it in a more communal area? It just takes one wacko to ruin it all.

I love this idea. One of the things that hold me back from visiting Japan is that I don't know anyone there and don't have anywhere to go.
