Burton Albion vs Wolverhampton Championship Live Stream Match Preview & Betting Prediction 2017

This may be a Midlands derby but the two clubs have very little in common with big spending Wolves pushing for a place in the top flight while Burton are operating on a fraction of their budget and trying to stay in the league. On paper Wolves should win but there’s reason to think we’ll see goals at both ends.

Burton have only failed to score in 2 of their last 14 home league games. Although they were well beaten 4-0 by Aston Villa in midweek, they are a side of real character and have already bounced back from major setbacks this term. They were played off the park by Leeds in a 5-0 defeat at Elland Road earlier in the month but avoided defeat in their next three Championship games so Wolves would be foolish to think they will have this all their own way.

Wolves have been installed as promotion favourites by all the bookies and there’s no doubting their technical qualities. They have a host of exciting young Portuguese players and they should cause problems for Burton here.

However they are not yet the finished package. There are perhaps doubts about their battling qualities and they were beaten at Sheffield United in midweek, having only just seen off struggling Barnsley at home last weekend. Defensively they also have the 3rd worst record in the top half and the worst of the five teams currently at the top of the division.

Wolves have let in 1.1 goals per game this season, which isn’t dreadful but does offer Burton Albion some hope. The Brewers have had an extra day to prepare too so that’s a slight advantage for them and with 11 of their last 14 Championship home games having produced goals at both ends, backing Both Teams to Score at Evens looks good here.

Head To Head
The first ever league meetings were last season and Burton took 4 points off Wolves including a 2-1 win at the Pirelli.

Burton Albion vs Wolverhampton Stats
Both teams have scored in 60% of Burton home games this season. 63% of Wolves away league games in 2017 have seen both teams score.

Burton Albion Team News
Changes are likely following a poor showing in the week. On-loan Wolves striker Joe Mason is ineligible though so Marvin Sordell may keep his place despite not making a big impression. Hope Akpan may replace Jamie Allen in midfield.

Wolverhampton Team News
Willy Boly is out injured and Conor Coady is banned so Wolves have a hole to fill at the back with Ryan Bennett likely to come in. Helder Costa is now fully fit and should start in a front three with Bonatini and Jota.
