Nairobi—Protesters cheer on August 10 after hearing that their candidate, Raila Odinga, had won the Kenyan presidency, but it was unclear if that information was correct. The celebration came after a day of demonstrations by Odinga’s supporters, who clashed with riot police, and many fear the protests could spiral as they did a decade ago, when more than 1,300 people died in post-election violence. There has been no evidence of vote tampering, but Odinga supporters continue to accuse President Uhuru Kenyatta of fraud in the election.
