Ren Hou (蓮舫, born November 28, 1967) is a Japanese journalist and politician who is currently a member of the upper house of the Diet of Japan.

Born Murata Renhō (村田 蓮舫) in Tokyo to a Taiwanese father and Japanese mother (of Chinese background), she studied at the prestigious Aoyama Gakuin school in Tokyo during her youth. After taking Japanese citizenship in 1985, she enrolled in the law faculty of Aoyama Gakuin University, graduating in 1990.

After her debut as a Clarion Girl in 1988, Ren appeared on several television and radio programs as a commentator. Eventually, she became a newscaster on TBS and TV Asahi, covering several historical events including the Great Hanshin Earthquake.

She was married in 1993 and studied Chinese at Beijing University in 1995. In 1997, she gave birth to two children. Ren returned to television in 2000, anchoring and reporting on several TBS programs. She reported from Taiwan during Chen Shui-bian's presidential campaign, which brought her to the attention of Taiwanese political leaders.

In July of 2004, Ren was elected to the House of Councillors representing Tokyo as a member of the Democratic Party of Japan.

Her full Mandarin name is Hsieh Lien-fang, but she is often referred to as Lien Fang, the Chinese transliteration of her Japanese name.

There is a possibility she will rise to Prime Minister in the future. She is a leading member of the DPJ, Japan's largest opposition Party.

Let her come to Nanjing and kneel before the victims who perished due to the "Nanjing Massacre"
This is just the first step
The next is not to set foot on worshipping the war criminals at the shrine
    More to come

She's visited all over China and Taiwan. So i would not be surprised if she had visited Nanjing Memorial Museum.

Anyways, Renho battling Abe in Debate,

    Impressive Command!

LOL, she has the guts to stand up to Abe and does so with a stiff upper lip. Mind you even senior Councillors would not engage with Abe directly , but Renho does. I Like her , actually.

Yea I know that manga series. Btw the right wing groups hate Renho but you know what they can't do anything since she is elected all the time by popular vote , and in Tokyo too. Lol.

If ever there will a leader in Diet that can bring Japan and China closer it will be Renho or Sadakazu.

Awww. She has very short hair..... :-( Instead, why is it that beautiful women with long hair are not often powerful assertive people or leaders in government? T_T
I notice that women almost always have to look almost like men to get to the very top position of government. This world sucks! I wish they could be more like this below. lol @Nihonjin1051 @Cossack25A1

Damn, short hair girl. From my experience, those girls are tough, they want to convey to the world that they are just like men, and don't care about traditional feminine values.
