-----------------------------------

There is a saying there is no point crying over spilt milk, but for Ronin Kassius living on the terraformed world of Teloria, his decision to help out the Cosplay Club during his third year of middle school at Telos Academy in the city-state of Ar Telica is one he fervently regrets. Cross-playing as the popular animated heroine, Princess Silver Blue, garnered him a legion of ardent fans misled to believe he is a girl and not a boy because of his overtly feminine appearance.

A year later, Ronin begins his first year of high school at Telos Academy hoping for a change for the better, but his life is soon derailed in a series of mishaps that appear suspiciously intentional. An unpleasant after-school encounter with a girl bearing a grudge threatens to expose Ronin's cross-playing days as Silver Blue. Escaping into a gaming arcade for a session playing Necropolis - a zombie apocalypse holo-VR - turns into a fight for survival ending with his apparent death. Waking up days later, and fearing the consequences of attending Telos Academy if his secret has been exposed, Ronin learns it's the least of his problems when he's challenged by an unknown party to dress as a school girl if he wants to learn who revealed his cross-playing identity and the truth behind his demise in Necropolis.

Helped by three female classmates, and guided by an enigmatic voice in his head that he nicknames Ghost, Ronin faces twists and betrayal as he struggles to learn the truth about Necropolis, his body, and the mysterious family that has chosen him to represent their interests by competing as a girl, Mirai, in the Princess Royale, an all-too realistic VR tournament where Gun Princesses battle for the coveted title of Gun Queen, earning them the right to challenge their competitors for the ultimate rank of Gun Empress. However, the greatest shock will be learning the truth behind his new existence as Mirai, the reality of the Princess Royale, the powerful Sanreal Family, and what it all bodes for him, his family, and for humanity living on Teloria.

Loving the Character Development

*May Contain Minor Spoilers For Users Who Haven't Read the Series*

I never read the original Gun X Princess and now that I've read the rewritten work, I don't think I ever will go and read the original (except maybe to see how far the Author has grown) because I've been completely and utterly spoiled by this superior writing.

Princess Royale is one of those rare stories on Royal Road in which acts like a Western Novel rather than a Light Novel/Web Novel (or any typical RRL story).

The most notable difference being the pacing of the story. The pacing of the story may turn out to be slow for royalroad standards, however, this is by no means a negative.

In fact, the slower pacing allows the Author to further flesh out the characters in ways that gives each person a true personality that almost seems life-like.

What makes this story so refreshing and captivating to me is the growth of the MC. From the very beginning the Author introduces that the MC has an identity crisis and this concept constantly challenges the main character throughout the series (so far).

In many stories, Authors provide eye-candy by putting the MC in a physically challenging environment to allow them to become stronger by over saturating battle scenes. While this isn't wrong or boring, a reader enjoys seeing the process in which a character grows.

In Princess Royale, the MC gets beaten, battered and broken down into decaying dust particles before becoming truly OP. This process allows the reader to sympathise with the MC to the point where you really do feel sorry for him. Yet to construct a magnificent building, you must first destroy what currently exists.

You know a story is good when the reader is able to care for the characters.

TLDR

Grammer & Writing = Excellent quality. Approaching the same quality as Western Novels.

Story = Original and refreshing, especially on RRL.

Would recommend. This story is On Point.

If you are looking for a gender-bender done right then look no further!, even if you're not focused on the gender-bender and don't mind it the story by itself can blow you away. This is top-quality content with visible improvement every time the author tries to fix-up his work and the author takes advice and criticism well, as long as it's constructive, not to say he will do everything you suggest just that he will consider and think upon it. This is just my opinion but I see that as long as the author doesn't royally screw up (which I highly doubt he will) that this novel series could become another Kate Daniels or Cassandra Palmer just without all the magic (at least from what I have read so far that I'm guessing their will be no magic but you never know unless you're the author yourself).

Followed the old one closely and even though it was well written this remastering is incredible. The characters are easily the best part of this story as they truly feel human a life like. The setting and eveything about this story works to build up the characters and make the world, as unrealistic as it is, feel real, almost as if you could go there yourself. I recommend this story to anyone and everyone as its incredible and worth a read

My only hope for this story is that the Main character remains attracted to women. Most GB's where the MC no longer carriers their original sexual attraction dont seem to understand that a female body does not make you automatically attracted to men. Its all in the brain, and the MC's brain in this is literally grafted from a straight male. It therefore works exactly like the original does, the synapses would have to fire the same in order to get the same mind and especially the same person. Female bodies play with hormones but those hormones work in reaction to what the brain tells them. For anyone who thinks that just because you have the body of a woman or a man you're automatically attracted to the opposite sex needs to get their heads out of the 50's

This gender bender story is by far the best gender bender story in RRL. All characters and even the MC are scaruly belieavable and act realistically to how one would when you see a good friend of yours start to crossdress. The MC is totally against crossdressing as well though his gender might change in future posts though I wont spoil how or why it happens. I cant wait to see how the MC develops and seeing as how the author fleshes out the main characters though I hope the other characters, in particular the initial antagonists arent stereotypical seen in most school life stories.

Story wise the author gives enough mystery to a story that can easily hook any virtual reality and gender bender readers imo. The starting chapter or so may be slow, but for genderbender and virtual teality lovers will get unknowingly hooked easily as yhe story progresses.

Grammar is fantastic. Nothing to complain there.

A definite must read.

The Tale of the Silver Blue Princess

This is a story about the tragic tale of the silver blue princess(lol). On her journey to meet her beloved, she faced countless hardships. In classic Cinderella fashion, she shone like a bright star for a day, then forever disappeared from the world when the magic wore off. Memories of her lived on in the people and stories of her beauty were left as the stuff of legends. Unfortunately, that one glistening, radiant day of brilliance would come back to haunt her... Okay, just kidding. Everything above is a joke. Onto the real review.

As skull_mech said, this is one of the best gender bender stories I have read on RRL. The common criticism, "Why genderbender? Just make the MC a girl," completely does not apply to this story. The MC's struggle with a changing identity and environment is one of the parts that make this story great.

Vivid characters.

Great action.

Excellent grammar and world building. The author appears well versed in the craft of storytelling. As of now, Ch 8, we are just getting introduced into true meat of the story. If the previous glimpses of action in Princess Royale are any indication, it will be a real treat.

Review as of Ch.8(and eagerly awaiting more chaps)

If you read the previous version, weather you liked it or not, I suggest you read this it is much improved from before with more realistic(and insane/crazy/mentally traumatized characters), better flowing story, and so many secrets that really should not have been keep secret, but had been due to the personality of the characters and their interactions.

All in all a great Sci-Fi story that stands out from the rest of the stories on the site and one I will defiantly buy to support the author.

Best Fiction on Royal Road

The story is well planned out and knows where it wants to go.  It takes its time to develop the characters into relatable people especially if you have been bullied  in the past.  The mystery in  each chapter  keeps you begging for more because how well done the cliffhangers are done in each chapter.  The world is also written in great detail allowing you to picture the area easier.  The science fiction elements are done well.

If you have read the first version of this novel you will notice that there are many improvements as well as differences in the story.  The pacing is improved and the plot twist are more surprising.

This is truly a top touch novel, give it a shot you won't be disappointed!

Wow. I read this cover to cover in about 8 hours total. Nice job, I really enjoyed this.

To try and be a bit constructive, I'll offer some thoughts on the writing and the story.

First off, totally blown away with the general quality of the writing. Its well thought out. Not only that, but the characters are very believable. The pacing in particular was something I noticed, and not in a bad way either. Most RRL novels always seem to have the pacing set a bit too high.

I think my only real complaint was that I am itching for a sequel now!
