This is a little project that, as is often the case, started off as a throwaway doodle. With a little encouragement from my friend Tom Dougherty, (link on the right) I turned it into several drawings. What's fun is that the Star Wars universe really blends with the goofy, strangely-named world of Dr. Seuss pretty easily. I have a couple more of these up my sleeve which I hope I can get around to soon. Stay tuned, and enjoy!
Update: Added a Bantha and some raiders! Thanks for all the swell comments, everyone!

Better than I had dared to hope. Great job, Adam!
wow! These are really fantastic
Chewie is killing me! HAA HAAA!!
Yoda is very cute!
Oh the places you go!
brilliant. would love to see more.
this is amazing!!! great work!
One change to the Obi-Wan-Darth ryme might help:
If he is here
Then I'll find him later!"
and he grumbled off,
that Darthly Lord Vader.
Oh boy, that is good stuff. Prepare to be linked like crazy.
It's indubitable that George Lucas was inspired by Doctor Seuss.
Make this into a book please? I want one!
Terrific.
These are brilliant. I have to say though that this seems a perfect opportunity to portray the Cantina Band.
Brilliant! (Any chance of you doing merch, like shirts or keychains?)
Hey! Thanks for all the attention and all the really nice comments, everybody! I'm sure I have a few more left in me (Cantina Band is a great idea!) and I'll be sure to post them.
Heidi8, I put together a modest Zazzle store, (linked to the right) and I just added a keychain. I'm new to Zazzle so let me know what you'd like to see.
Thanks again!
Great job! In a galaxy far, far away. . . Dr. Seuss does have his say.
All I can say is, I'm IN LOVE with this post!! The rhyme about Obi One is the one I like the most. :o)
If you would let another poet use an image for a rhyme, come visit my blog when you get some free time.
Rhyme Me a Smile
Great stuff. Love the Obi-wan/Darth Vader page. The Chewbacca sketch is awesome. Love the mustache and look on his face.
I went to your zazzle page to order some prints for my nieces nursery...and there's only one drawing available! I was hoping for the chewbacca print at least :) You should add more!
Make a book out of this...it's fantastic! I want one for each of my Star War friends. Brilliant job!!
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss...
I don't know who you are, this link just got passed to me. But you're awesome. Just wanted to make that known.
Your art is quirky,
you inspire deep thoughts.
My copilot Nerkly
wants whatever you've got!
The force is with you
Awesome stuff, I have a post that will be live later today on www.flyguy.net
You deserve every bit of traffic as the artwork is excellent!
Fantastic! I like Luke hanging out of the Seuss Ton Ton the best, if I have to pick, but I don't, so I'll just say that I like the rest.
Well done! They would make a lovely book. You could even do the prequels and make them not suck.
I love these! Looking forward to more.

Great! The only fault I could find with this was that the catwalk Vader was standing on looked halfway OSHA-compliant. :)
I've spent many an hour over the years trying to forge this style or that, trying to make a design or a drawing look like someone else's, or as if it came from some other period. (For example, I'm the guy who came up the Sacred Heart of Elvis.) I'm not that good at it but I've put a lot of time into it.
And I can say without reservation these cartoons are BRILLIANT.
Wonderful idea and execution.
I love this work! I'm actually looking for somebody who can do the Seuss style for a project. Can you contact me? Can't find details for you. You can get ahold of me here: http://www.zachstronaut.com/about/#contact (don't want to post my email address or I'll get spammed) Thanks!
I tried to buy the best buddies shirt but zazzle canceled the order because of copyright issues. LAME. For all anyone knows it's a cowboy and his trained yeti. Anyway, love this stuff man. Keep it coming.
I love the image of Luke inside the Ton Ton, a what could have been a morbid image made almost adorable.
Have you thought about publishing these? They would be wonderful for small children who love Star Wars (like my nephews).
Continue! Make book!! Make book available!
Fantastic! I vote for Porkins next.
Thanks everybody!
Macdougal, sorry to hear that! I've sent an email to Zazzle, so hopefully there's a solution soon. Anybody else having trouble?
If it continues to be tricky, I'll find another way to sell prints n' stuff.
Zachary,(or anyone, really) feel free to drop me a line at themightyadam(at)gmail
I think I just died from amazingness.
really awesome! Keep at it, I'd love to see more!
Sweet, tasty-good cross-pollination of Seuss and SW - keep on!
I would totally buy a book version of this.
Oh.
Just a huge Thank You for this...
Absolutely epic awesomeness. Assuming no copyright violations, a book of these would be an instant best-seller. Good luck getting a blessing from the Almighty Lucas though...he recently shut down production of a laser pointer that roughly resembled a lightsaber.
unfreakinbelievable...
AA presence I sense
which I know must be near
but where lurks this presence
not here or not there!
This presence I sense
I feel it must be,
that old wily Jedi,
Obi-Wan Kenobi
"If he truly is here
I must find him later!"
so off grumbled he,
that Darthly Lord Vader.
You are awesome
A presence I sense
I know must be near
but where lurks this presence
not here or not there!
This presence I sense
I sense but can't see -
that old wily Jedi,
my friend Kenobi.
"If he is hiding
I must find him later!"
and off grumbled he,
that Darthly Lord Vader.
I'd totally buy these as prints, frame 'em, and hang 'em on my wall. Keep it up!!
Wow, you should totally start a Kickstarter project for this and turn it into a book! I would buy it!
It's a surefire success. I'd pitch it to Lucasarts. They might just bite.
It's like Star Wars Lego for a double hit of nostalgia.
If you make a book, I will purchase it!
Thanks for the new wallpapers ;)
Amazing, thanks for posting this!
I would like to add another call for a book! There are alot of geeky parents that would get a kick out of this book!
A long time ago
In the star-glittery night
Two spaceships were fighting
My, what a sight!
Thanks for all the awesome comments, folks!
Just an update: Zazzle isn't too thrilled to sell my things, as it's a but too close to the real thing for comfort. Some things they'll print, and some they won't. I can't really blame them, though, with such a touchy property.
Stay tuned to this blog, though. I'll find a way to put art in your hands, if you want it!
That's awesome, man! I think you should do the whole Star Wars trilogy in Dr. Seuss book form!
Very impressive, I give you massive kudos for making this look so good.
Got here from theawesomer. And this is awesomeness. I'll be looking for the book in Barnes & Noble by this time next year. If it isn't there I'll be calling up some bounty hunters.
This is completely awesome! Thank you for doing this. Looking forward to future images!
Ok, these are amazing. You need to sell these as prints right now. And please let all of us know as soon as they are ready to purchase.
Prints or T-shirts.
MOAR
Pure genius. Keep up the good work!
I want this to become a book. When it does, I will buy if for myself and at least 3 other people. It's fantastic.
I would really like to see a full-fledged book of this! This would be the best way to introduce Star Wars to my little girl who loves us to read to her, but won't sit through a movie that isn't made by Disney yet.
Also, I would buy a T-Shirt with the Seuss-Yoda on it.
More, more, more! This is just fabulous.
I also think a book is a great idea. Personally, I'd love a framed print. I doubt you'd need to (or should) do a Kickstarter project because, as we all know, George Lucas is a fan of squeezing every last drop of profit out of his franchise as long as it fits his overall vision. I'm guessing that if you did pitch this to him that he would recognize the brilliance of your artwork, see it as an opportunity to make some money in a previously unexplored way, and be willing to fund it as long as you relinquish at least a large chunk of your overall artistic control (I know that sounds awful).
Understanding that you could construct a good argument that an entire book of these images would be sufficiently transformative to constitute "fair use" parody under copyright laws, Lucas has way more money to litigate than you. (You may also have issues with the Dr. Suess estate.) It probably would not even be worth the effort to try to forge ahead on your own in order to retain full artistic control of such a project. Plus, with LucasArts' backing, you would get marketing and publishing help, and reach a much larger audience. Not that a random, anonymous poster's opinion should be worth a whole lot, I think that if handled properly this could be a HUGE success. If you are interested in actually making this into a full-blown project, you should pursue it...carefully. Seek some formal legal advice, and consider approaching LucasArts early on. I think the prints you have are enough to pitch the idea.
Good luck!
I absolutely Love this entire post! Your art is spot on with the Dr. Seuss stylings. I want the Yoda in Tshirt form! Let us know if you get a book published! ABSOLUTEY FANTASTIC!!!
So fine.
I want your cartoon babies. :[
I'm pretty sure this effort is 100% win. I'd love to see a whole Star Wars Dr Suess book. You're awesometastic!
Genius! Love it all. Can't wait to see what else is up your sleeve. The marriage of Seuss and Star Wars is bliss!
This was hysterical! You made my day. I think we need a little Princess Leia representation too:
My planet blew up,
I'm having a bad day!
Now get this walking carpet
OUTTA MY WAY!
These are great! Love to see some ewoks.
dear sir i saw your link on facebook i think this is the best idea thats ever come out. id totally buy a book too. im going to link this to mine and show your work off
grrrreat jooob...
Hey! This is great. It inspired me to write a short parody in the spirit of The Grinch: http://planetplutonet.tumblr.com/post/2301820964/dr-seuss-does-star-wars-or-how-darth-vader
It's awesome, yeah, but could you correct that typo from "presense" to "presence"? It bothers me to see Dr. Seuss misspell stuff :(
I really LOVE green Yoda man,
I'm that old Jedi's biggest fan,
I'd put your cartoon on my wall,
I'd put it anywhere at all!
On a shirt or in a book,
Alongside Han & that big Wook!
I really LOVE that Yoda Thing,
Thank you, artist: joy, you bring!
I do not like Green Eggs & Nerf , I do not like them, Master Smurf!
As everyone else has said, really wonderful. I won't rhyme it, but I mean it.
Complete awesomeness! This is amazing. Please make a book.
Well Done Adam!
This is fantastic!!
Great stuff! I think you captured the essence of both an expertly combined the two. Please give us some more!!
The Yoda is the one I'd choose. Just wish the shirt choice mentioned Seuss. :)
I agree with Anonymous with the two long paragraphs.
Since this is obviously going "viral" Lucas probably already knows about it.
I think you've got the corner on the illustrations and concept. Collaboration with Lucas + Someone for Seussical Quips + Immense Market = Great Success for your Wonderful Idea, I think.
Ride this train!
I had to post this for my students to see!

Thank you!!
Kelly
I am prepared to buy this whenever it comes out.
Great fun. Certainly hope it can be expanded and made widely available. Lucas has shown some flexibility with rights when it comes to innovative and creative use of Star Wars imagery so this might be right up his alley. Best of luck.
These are so awesome! Brilliant idea, for sure! I was linked here through another blog, but I just had to share on my own blog as well: http://impressonion.com/2011/02/23/adam-watson-does-dr-suess-does-star-wars/ I'm subscribing, keep up the fantastic work!
Brilliant, your going to be very famous one day.
I just want to say thanks to everyone for the awesome comments. The People have spoken and they say they love nerdy things like this. If I can figure out an elegant way to turn this into a bigger project without stepping on any legal toes, you will be the first to know.
Let's say "it's on the drawing board."
Zounds!
The Yoda one really should be a birthday card!
These remind me of Mattias Adolfsson's "Baroque Star Wars" drawings. They'll make a nice set.

this is amazing!!! great work!
Impressive!!! Are you doing any more illustrations? You could do one scene in which Darth Vadar said, "I'm your father!" to Luke Skywalker.
You're a genius. These are incredible. Well done and deserving of great praise. Thank you.
Loved it so much,I attached your blog to my blog page.
Hi Adam,
Found you after spending too much of today working on my own Star Wars Seuss mashup and THEN googling it.... Curses, you got there first AND did brilliant artwork! I'm going to carry on regardless, but I'm pointing people here from G+ because your art is amazing.
Damian, thanks for the kind words! Share yours when you're done!
love this! keep up the amazing work!
Mighty adam, this is absolutely brilliant!
The tour de force is strong in this one.
Brilliant! Yoda t-shirt ordered from RedBubble, I can't wait to be the envy of all my friends and a non-zero number of complete strangers. I agree with the scans of the Obi Wan - Vader commentary, there are some good improvements suggested to get the meter right. But mostly this is spectacular.
Love it!
I like this one better. Nicely done. Adam, you should adopt it.
Publish this. Please publish this. I'll buy ten copies right now.
This is pretty awesome - though I feel I have to put this out there.
The time that Han Solo made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs, he was stopped and boarded by imperial forces.
Great art, great work! Keep it up!
Make a book! I want to read this to my kids one day!!
