Life as a Linguist
Me: Okay, if you had to choose one, would you say "Yesterday I dreamt of a lion" or "Yesterday I dreamed of a lion"?
Speaker: I wouldn't dream of lions.
Me: Ha, ha. Okay, but if you had to say one or the other—
Speaker: I actually don't dream most nights.
Me: Sure. Lot of times I don't even remember my dreams.
Speaker: No, I just don't dream.
Me: Okay, but if you DID dream of a lion, would—
Speaker: Why would I dream of a lion? That doesn't make sense. When I was 10 I had a dream my legs were made out of pumpkins.
Me: Wow, cool! So then, would you say "Yesterday I dreamt my legs were made out of pumpkins" or "Yesterday I—"
Speaker: It was when I was 10. It wasn't yesterday. I just told you that.
Me: Sorry. Okay, would you say "When I was 10 I dreamt—"
Speaker: Actually, maybe I was 11… I was held back one year in third grade, so sometimes I get confused what age I was because I was older than the other students.
Me: Awesome. Okay, so would you say "When I was 10 or 11 I dreamt my legs were made out of pumpkins" or "When I was 10 or 11 I dreamed my legs were made out of pumpkins"?
Speaker: I'd say "Once when I was in Mr. Tillman's class I had a dream that my legs were really big and made out of pumpkins."

“I have to be stopped,” Kimberle said. Her breath blurred her words, transmitting a whooshing sound that made me push the phone away.

Lucets are a hugely underrated tool for witchcraft.

elphame-bound:

It’s been around since before the middle ages, makes various types of cords. (most commonly a box cord. which unlike rounded cords is less likely to unravel, perfect for corsets ) The very shape is reminiscent of the devil or a stang. Usually made of wood or bone which can be carved. Its a type of waving that is repetitive and can be done in trance or when your mind is else where. I’ve used it for making witch ladders, bindings and protection charms. It’s super portable and doesn’t take much skill to learn the various types of cords, braids, or weavings. All around I’m honestly surprised more people haven’t raved about this sweet little tool so steeped in history!

do these things do anything or is it like the goths who wear fake gas masks?

(wait are the gas masks actually fake? I always assumed they were)

Honestly, I’d wear one even if they pumped pure cyberpunk pollution into my lungs.
