Top White House political strategist Steve Bannon once reportedly compared himself favorably to Russian revolutionary Vladimir Lenin — and a new report suggests he thinks of himself as a modern-day Napoleon Bonaparte as well.

New York Magazine reports that Bannon has a painting hung from his office wall of himself “dressed as Napoleon in his study at the Tuileries, done in the style of Jacques-Louis David’s famous neoclassical painting.”

The painting was apparently a gift from Nigel Farage, the nationalist U.K. politician who was a leading figure in the successful campaign to get his country to leave the European Union last year.

In the past, Bannon has proudly described himself as a “Leninist” whose chief desire was to completely destroy the American state. So far, however, Bannon has made no public pronouncements explaining any affinity he might have for Napoleon.
