It came about due to the starvation blockade that the allies imposed on Germany in WWI that killed hundreds of thousands of civilians, and the virtual thralldom that the Treaty of Versailles put the Germans under.                 You could really say this about all socialists, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. At the core of socialist doctrine there is a desire to help those less fortunate, it's the execution that causes unimaginable suffering.

                  To be fair, at least one of these wasn't even a Hitler quote. The one beginning, "We are Socialists, we are enemies of the capitalistic economic system," is from Gregor Strasser's 1926 article Thoughts about the Tasks of the Future. It's often misattributed to Hitler, usually by people making the 'Hitler was a socialist' argument against the Left. Not that Hitler would have disagreed with the sentiment, but he wasn't against free enterprise or private property- just against laissez-faire and liberal (aka 'Jewish') capitalism which put private above national interests.

                  Probably. A uni lecturer also showed me Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible, after I spotted it on his desk and I asked. The first book isn't a horrifying saga of evil murder by Satan. Just mainly ranting about how God is a shameless dictator, and the 'God is great' praise in the Bible is due to fear - not that God is a nice guy. God is the Kim Jong-un of the heavens.

                  If shown that The Satanic Bible without any knowledge of religion, in 2017 many would instantly come to the conclusion that Satan was the good guy. I read some reviews of it not long ago, and it was quite funny to see how underwhelmed some people were that it wasn't quite the radical stream of evil that readers were hoping for.

                                  The video doesn't present a solid case for why its interpretation of the political spectrum is more valid than the common interpretation. While the traditional left-wing and right-wing dichotomy maps out to the horizontal axis of the now-popular political compass, this video just maps it out to the vertical axis and calls it a day.                                               Aye, but if you asked them if bad people could have points or attempt to somehow humanize those they oppose you'll end up as the enemy. It's not really a lesson in and of itself; more than anything it just demonstrates that someone who knows what they're doing can quotemine effectively. But it is an indicator that even bad people can have good ideas, or that something that seems like a good idea is not necessarily always so. The antifa "movement" would do well to learn that.

                                                        So a small group of people applauded a guy in an encouraging way when he delivered a speech in front of them and was obviously somewhat nervous. Not to mention that in the speech, he doesn't say anything remotely fascist. Hitler might have been a total monster, but he was a clever man and did definitely have a lot of good policies.
