I wouldn't touch a 3D printer on kickstarter with a 10 foot pole. A similar printer that was promised at a low price called the Tiko was delayed for YEARS and ended up a mediocre piece of shit.

If that doesn't bother you I'd suggest waiting a few weeks after it's released - assuming it doesn't get delayed.

Well Tiko never sent out units early in development, indicating they did not have many revisions. Those who got unit was few days before release and they were under NDA. While Kodama has already sent several early units out for review months before release, no NDA or payment for the unbiased reviews that have been made.

Kodama isn't a new company either. They created the trinus 3D printer, which is pretty good for it's price class. They also already have the manufacturing sorted. Which is rare to see on kickstarter machines.

Kodama obsidian is already on Rev. 3 and they plan on five revisions before releasing later this year.

Of course, have you good reason to doubt kickstarter machines. 9 out of 10 machines are just shitty unstable pieces of junk, and a perfect example of that is Tiko

And waiting till after release is always a good idea. You can never be too careful with kickstarters

I'd rather spend $200 on a printer knowing it works rather than wasting $100 on one that doesn't. Even if it does work out people will start reporting problems with it and a new updated version will be released at a much higher price with all the fixes it should've come with in the first place.
