DC is home to the "World's Greatest Super Heroes," internationally recognized icons that continue to thrill generation after generation. Established in 1938 with the first appearance of SUPERMAN, the Man of Steel, and bolstered the following year with the debut of BATMAN, the Dark Knight Detective, this extraordinary world of modern mythology also includes legendary characters such as WONDER WOMAN, GREEN LANTERN, THE FLASH, AQUAMAN and the rest of THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA.
About DC Entertainment
As graphic storytelling matured and began to reach out to broader audiences, Vertigo was created in 1993 as a venue for material of an edgier, more sophisticated nature. Many of today's most provocative writers and artists, including Neil Gaiman, Brian K. Vaughn, Warren Ellis, Gilbert Hernandez, Peter Milligan, Grant Morrison, Paul Pope and Brian Azzarello, have found a creative home at Vertigo. Among the award-winning series published since Vertigo's inception are SANDMAN, Y: THE LAST MAN, TRANSMETROPOLITAN, 100 BULLETS, PREACHER, FABLES and HELLBLAZER.
MAD is America’s longest running and best-selling magazine with that name. For over 60 years MAD has been synonymous for “excellence in low standards.” With its grinning, gapped-toothed idiot mascot, Alfred E Neuman “gracing” its front cover, MAD satirizes politics, celebrities, sports and more in its print and digital editions, and also on its daily humor blog (which is updated daily, hence the term “daily humor blog”). MAD’s most legendarily moronic features include Spy vs. Spy, The Fold-in, “A MAD Look at..,” Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions and its iconic TV and movie parodies. MAD’s contributors – widely known as “Usual Gang of Idiots” — include such notable names Al Jaffee, Sergio Aragones, Peter Kuper, and Tim Carvell — although they wisely prefer to downplay their association with the magazine.
