I know this might sound a bit of a strech , but many elements are there :

1) Us vs Them mentality (we need to destroy them -other countries/fossil fuels companies so we'd be able to shine)

1) A Big social group (corporation/country) in which power is concentrated in the hands of one individual

2) Said individual had from the very beginning the goal to create a cult of personality around himself

3) Also trying to get people to follow them by convincing them that they have everything they need to win the war (real or corporate) , war simply can't be lost according to them

4) As problems emerge and the war (whether it's corporate war or proper war) doesn't take the path they hoped for , they both turn to lies and alternative facts to conceal reality and keep the morale of subordinates high

5) As problems become more and more serious , they both start accusing innocent/neutral people of being colluded with the enemy (jews or journalists who are accused of being on Exxon payroll , union advocates , employees who came out describing the abusive environment at the workplace , sexual harassment , long hours and low pay.... )

6) As the situation escalates beyond control , double down and convince people that not only the war can't be lost , but there's room to fight and win easily on multiple fronts (Russia , Africa and France or.... the solar panels market , the automotive market , the pick up market , the battery market , the satellite market , the Mars colonization market , the high speed rail market , the tunnels market , the AI market , the music streaming market , the car sharing market , the global energy policy arena.....[add Musk's next idea here] )

7) The drug consumption (amphetamines/ambien..)

8) The extreme narcissism (practicing speeches for hours in front of a mirror or....spending thousands of dollars to get lost hair back)

9) Every small success seems to be due to the leader's capabilities and not because of people who did the heavy lifting , those who did the actual fighting

10) Even tho the situation is precipitating and heavy losses are recorded on every front/every market there's always the mirage of a future weapon that would turn the whole situation in their favor and annihilate every enemy/competitor right off the bat (the new V2 rocket or.....the new Falcon 9 rocket , the new model 3 , the new gigafactory , the boring company , the new pick up truck , the new powerwall , the new decorative solar roof , the new hyperloop...)
