Endorsed. All of them have cute stories about communities that stay together and help each other and stuff. @sinesalvatorem, you know what they love to help each other do? Murder queer kids. Do you think it’s good when they do that? Do you think that the tithe is not going to ljne the church’s pockets first? You know anything about sundown towns? Would you like to live in sundown towns? Do you know that this exact sort of small-time goddy togetherness that made sundown towns ubiquitous?I grew up in a society that was quite misogynistic and anti-queer, but blissfully not, at the time, religious. Nowdays it’s more reactionary *and* far more religious. The gloss of (almost entirely fake, transparently state-imposed) fundamentalist Orthodox Christianity over that has been making things obviously, directly worse.
There is no fucking way I’ll tolerate excuses for that, or some convoluted logic by which encouraging grassroots fundamentalism is actually the nice helpful community-building Social Technology the world needs.
@sinesalvatorem go sit down and think long and hard about the things you’re defending here.
sine grew up in a tight-knit, fairly-religious and very anti-queer culture herself, did she not? Hence the REDACTED stuff? Hence the stories about fucking with the hypocritically-religious people in her catholic school? Hence the explanations of exactly what the homophobic slang terms in upbeat dancehall music are?
I don’t think it’s the case that @sinesalvatorem does not know of what she speaks, with regard to anti-queer religious people, is what I’m saying
Does her country have literal unironic concentration camps for queer people right now?
