Well if we're being pedantic here, saying that the thumb isn't a finger is phylogenetically misleading and linguistically wrong. The thumb is evolutionarily homologous to exactly the same kind of digit as the other four, and Merriam-Webster defines a finger as any of the five terminating members of the hand.

The thumb is certainly different from the other fingers (in that it's opposable and only has two phalanges), but it certainly belongs to the same category.

And if she was actually gay, then she hit the jackpot by getting someone that's only 4% of the population

That's 1 in 25. Not really that much of a "jackpot" especially considering how many people you see a day.

4% of the population is still very very small, and very dependent on location. San Francisco? Yeah that's not one in twenty five. But deep South? Things are different. Same thing can be said with race. Black people make up 12% of the population. But where I live, there aren't almost any black people. Head on down to detroit, you're looking at about 80% black population. Location is key. But since this whole story is bullshit, it doesn't matter that much

It'd be a lot more balanced than race though, since those locations are from people moving there. Unlike race, a gay community doesn't produce more gay kids than a straight one (I mean, gay people don't have kids, so actually it would be less.)

No but lgbt folks tend to congregate in certain cities and neighborhoods. The Village is going to see a lot more lesbian waitresses than the Bronx, and they'll probably have a larger lgbt population difference than a racial one.

I didn't post the parent to your comment, and OP of parent meant it as in: when black people have kids the kids will be black, when gay people have kids the kids won't be gay therefore it's less region-specific since it's not genetical.

When he talked about the wikipedia article, yes. Before that nobody mentioned that we were just talking about the United States

I'm not trynna be a smartass, I just tried to give more perspective on the topic saying that it isn't just 4%. I did not say that the 4% number wasn't true, that's why I said "Some sources". Then when he replied with the wikipedia article saying "not even close to 15-30%" (number which I claimed to be bisexuals) I wanted to clarify that I haven't pulled those numbers out of my bumhole

Also, why the downvotes? I really can't understand

      Edit: Spelling

The downvotes are probably because your source is an image where people graded themselves on their homosexuality, which is extremely vague and not really statistical. If you're clearly bi and like both men and women equally, does that mean you're a 6 or a 3? It raises more questions for me than it gives answers/facts.

Well it's using the Kinsey scale which is a scientific scale going from hetrosexual to homosexual. Bisexual is usually between 1 and 5 or 2 to 4 depending on where you get your info. I think that's fair enough

Not the way the story is told.

"My 5 guy friends were all hitting on this one waitress" Right away we know this is fake, the bro code makes sure this doesn't happen.

She also seems to imply that EVERYONE BUT her were hitting on the waitress, which means that the waitress had to literally walk up to her, out of her own choice, and give her her number.

To verify the authenticity of any story on Tumblr, you must always consult the bro code first. Women will never understand the bro code, because it can't be taught. If the story passes the bro code, then remember that it was posted to Tumblr, so by default the story is bullshit.

I knew a girl like that once. Practically every conversation I had with her, she had to shoehorn in the fact that she was a lesbian even if it had nothing to do with what we were talking about. On the one hand, I'm happy she was confident in herself but on the other, it got annoying real quick. And, go figure, Tumblr was her favourite website.

I used to have a friend, Saad, who was black, gay and Jewish. He was almost incapable of expressing an opinion without somehow bringing up all three and suggesting that his opinion -- no matter how banal and conventional it was -- was uniquely informed by his identity. I remember once getting into a really heated argument with him because he suggested that his ironic appreciation of Britney Spears was more meaningful than my ironic appreciation of Spears because he was black, gay and Jewish.

Despite this quirk of his, Saad was a really cool dude. One day I was hanging out with some friends who all knew Saad, and one of them suggested we call him up and invite him over to hang out and smoke pot. From the kitchen I yelled "I'm Saad, and as a gay, black Jewish man I like strawberry ice cream." For some reason (my guess? the pot) this struck everyone as absolutely hysterical, and for the next year or so you couldn't mention Saad without someone saying"I'm Saad, and as a gay, black, Jewish man I like [completely random thing]!"

He was pretty good humored about it when he eventually found out about the joke, but sadly he stopped ascribing his every opinion to his unique perspective, and the joke stopped being funny.

Then Saad got hooked on crystal meth and vanished into the black hole of drugs and crime. :(

It's because if we say it in real life people say shit like they're scared of us or that were inherently creepy or they may even attack us so really online is the only place we can talk about being gay. And then when you've had to hide a huge part of yourself for so long you just wanna talk about it a lot because it's so great to be able. It's not because there's nothing else to our personality it's just that were gay and it's so nice to be able to say it.

Something like this actually did happen to me. I was out with a guy friend who was throwing himself at a female employee. Finally I was like, "Dude, give it up. She already mentioned her boyfriend. She's not interested."

She laughed and said she could see us being good friends. So we exchanged numbers.

        Guys.

        My dudes.

        You have no idea

        how satisfying it is

to be the only girl at a table with five dudes

who are all hitting on the waitress

and you're the one who gets her number.

I mean, I have no idea either,

but it seems like it would be pretty cool.

That's bad, but seriously you kids need to stop obsessing with Reddit accounts that make Tumblr posts for karma

I mean, it's possible this is true.

Maybe the waitress gave the other female her number- to be friends?

Is it exhausting? I've never been there.
