Drama, power struggles and admin abuse in /r/MarchAgainstTrump leave one Redditor standing -- /u/gets_it_mountie. But who is this mysterious redditor who just appeared out of nowhere, and more importantly, is he really fit to mod? Suddenly, 17 hours ago he made his first comment ever and took over /r/MAT after 3 years of nothing. What's going on?

First of all, he admits in this comment here to being a throwaway of a main account he likes to "keep out of politics". Well, it turns out this main account is the powermod /u/adeadhead. Among other defaults, this user moderates /r/camping, and what do you know? /u/gets_it_mountie is "off on a camping trip". Don't believe me? Ask the people who knew him for 3 months in /r/MAT, or look at this leaked chat between him and barawo33. The source threatened to leak full screenshots if this thing escalates further. But more importantly, this redditor has a dark side which can't be found on his main account that I'm here to expose.

The first alt he joined /r/mat with was /u/karmanautrino who is, surprise, surprise now suspended. Don't believe me? Here's a screenshot from the early days of /r/MAT where he invites a new mod to join.. There's also a waybackmachine archive of him having power there. The admins don't just permanently suspend accounts for nothing, so you can bet it was something interesting. And notice how gets it mountie doesn't appear on the MAT modlist until RIGHT AFTER karmanautrino is suspended, despite three years of inactivity.

Oh, but that's not all. More importantly is his alt /u/Boornish who is a MOD ON /r/TRUMP_TRAIN with a flair that says "Trump Supporter". Here's his most recent comment from four months ago, in MAT promoting trump_train. Oh, and this comment was made 4 MONTHS AGO when /r/MAT was completely unknown. How's that for suspicious? See this comment here where he admits it's his alt, too.

Remember all those claims in the early days of MAT that the head mods were secretly trump supporters? Well, what do you know? This guy certainly wasn't helping. The takeaway is of course that these new mods are power hungry lunatics who care nothing for the sub and will do anything for more.

Good neoliberal politicians are ones who delegate and defer their policy positions to experts. Politicians can't be so specialized to just be an economics PhD or something; they need to be well rounded in many areas and delegate to experts in a lot of them. Not these days. It bores me to tears. The admins came along with that whole healthy communities initiative and for a short while I hoped things might change, but it looks like that was mainly hot air.

It"s a place for people to gripe and I think they should be allowed to have such a place, but a lot of it is outrage-porn. It is incredibly hostile to almost all moderators whether it is justified or not.

I would have preferred somewhere that people can come and air their serious grievances and where moderators would also have been willing to come and give their side knowing they would get a fair hearing, but that hasn't really happened. Maybe reddit isn't the kind of place that can happen given the way everybody uses upvotes and downvotes to agree and disagree, or maybe the fact that when SRC started it had a lot of trolling going on permanently damaged the way it was looked upon by the majority of the moderator community.
