Poll reveals Republicans really do live in an alternative universe
A new SurveyMonkey poll shows shocking data that reveals President Donald Trump’s Republican supporters are living in a totally different reality than everyday Americans.
According to an Axios report, one-third of Republicans only get their news from Fox News and 89 percent of Republicans trust news coming from Trump before they see it on CNN.
Over the weekend, Trump tweeted a video showing him literally attacking CNN and leaving it flattened. Many took issue with the graphic as journalists are increasingly being attacked and threatened.
The poll also reveals that only 7 percent of Americans believe that Trump’s tweets are presidential and 26 percent think they are “entertaining.” At the same time, 47 percent find the tweets undignified and 34 percent think that the tweets are “mean.”
According to Jon Cohen, the vice president of SurveyMonkey’s research, those surveyed see Trump as isolated from the GOP base.
“Not only do most Republicans approve of his use of Twitter, but asked to describe those tweets, the No. 1 mention among the GOP is ‘truthful,’ with ‘entertaining’ in second place,” Cohen said.
Something the Republican Party should be fearful about is that independent voters do not support Trump’s Twitter meltdowns. A full three-quarters outright disapprove with their top three words to describe Trump’s tweets being “undignified,” “mean” and “dishonest.”
The poll was taken from 4,965 adults between June 29 and July 3.
