Is there any way to find out who that couple was?

I wondered what old people looked like in 1990 for awhile, then that image was presented to me.

Now I'd like to know more about them.

I would start with the website that is plastered all over the image as part of the watermark. Even if the photographer doesn't know more about these people, I'm sure he can at least give you more info about the circumstances of the photo.
