解説
NOT IRONMAN COMPATIBLE

The year is 769. Desiderius, an upstart nobleman of rather humble origins has seized the Iron Crown of Lombardy, and rules the land will the full force of a king. But the old lineages and bloodlines of the Lombards aren't dead yet, and each of them sees themselves as the rightful kings of the Lombard nation... Conflict may be inevitable, if one of these families seeks to rise to the top.

This mod seeks to allow players to restore one of the three old dynasties of the Lombards, The Bavarae, which are the oldest of these families to rule, and trace their ancestry all the way back to Lethuc, the first lombard king, The Ansprandlings, a family founded by the duke of Asti, who's son, Liutprand, became the most famous king of the Lombards (besides Desiderius), and the Billoingi, who usurped the throne from Liutprand's nephew and completed the conquest of the Byzantine exarchate of Ravenna.

I have redesigned the coats of arms to be more fashionable, and created a number of new characters (who are fictional) as the surviving members of these families, and 3 are landed, one from each family, as counts. They are as follows:

Aripald of Treviso(Billoingi): Duke Pemmo of Friuli was the father of 2 kings, Ratchis and Aistulf, but very few people mention the third child. Billo was named after his father's father, but it became apparent that he was not deserving of such a name, as he grew up to be a slow man, incapable of participating in politics, and only serving as a soldier for his family. He was almost useless to his father and brothers until he was used as a pawn, being married to a wealthy noblewoman of high standing. Surprisingly enough, the couple bore a child, named Aripald. Only two years later, Billo was found dead in the forests beyond Pavia, killed in a "hunting accident." His son Aripald was taken in by his mother's family, and proved to be everything his father wasn't, shrewd, intelligent and perceptive, Aripald became a master administrator and an adept man of law and governance. Eventually, his good works reached the ears of the king, who awarded the young man with the title of Count of Treviso. Aripald now seeks to restore the fortunes of his family, which has lost their duchy of Friuli. And who knows, maybe Aripald might be a king one day... If a few individuals leave this earth before he does...

Cuniprand of Monferrato (Ansprandling): When the foolish King Hildeprand was deposed by Ratchis, the new king strongly considered butchering Hildeprand's young son. But his wife, Hildeprand's sister, argued for his life, and so he was spared, but kept close in the royal court. There, not receiving the normal education of noble or royal sons, he was instead put into the care of the common soldiery, where he learned to fight and lead men. His finest hour was at age 17, when he crushed a large Avar raiding party near Cividale. For this, he was awarded by the king with the county of Monferrato. Many years later, the young prince still remembers his ancestry, sharing the blood of the greatest king Italia had ever seen. And if there is one thing that Cuniprand has learned, it is that might makes right, and a little bit of Royal blood just eases along what already seems, at least to him, to be a meteoric rise to Royal power, to be a second Liutprand.

Heripert of Modena(Bavarae): Unlike Cuniprand, Godepert, the 11 year old son of Aripert II, was not left unharmed when Ansprand took the throne. The boy was blinded, then exiled to a monastery in southern italy, where he was raised by monks. Though he was blind, the monks educated him well, and he became a renowned man of god in the area, with many of the poor and sick travelling many miles to have his blessing. One day, a local noblewoman came to receive his blessing. Godepert was impressed by her piety, and she by his kind and tolerant nature. Eventually, she convinced him to leave the monastic life and marry her. They lived happily on her family estates, and had together two sons, Heripert and Raginpert. These good times would not last long, however. When Heripert was eight, his father became ill quite suddenly, and died at age 33. It was clear to most that he had been poisoned, likely by Liutprand or his supporters, who wanted to tie up loose ends. Heripert's mother was forced into a new marriage, and his step-father chased the boys into exile. For years, Heripert, with his younger brother in tow, lived little more than a beggar's life, travelling from court to court seeking sanctuary, and being harried by agents of his enemies, who wanted him and his brother dead. This life on the run made Heripert very good at understanding intrigue, and being able to lie through his smiling teeth. Eventually, Liutprand died, as did his supporters, and a new generation, more impartial and unconcerned with the two boys took power. But the work had been done, and Heripert had become a bitter and angry young man, eager to right the wrongs done unto his family, and restore to his possession the Iron Crown of Lombardy, which his family had forged many years ago. In the court of Desiderius, Heribert served as a capable counter-spy and advisor to the king, and, as reward for his efforts, was eventually granted the county of Modena. Heripert now rules Modena, with his young son Gundepert a worthy heir. But Heripert is not satisfied with a meagre countship. The Kingdom of the Lombards is his rightful inheritance, and all who sit the throne now are little more than upstart pretenders. His lineage traces back to the ancient Lombard kings who ruled before even Alboin, and it was his family that made the Lombard nation so powerful. Heripert will make himself king, even if every other man who seeks the throne must have his head severed from his shoulders first...

@Brunwulf Well the Bavarian dynasty, due to being descended from the Lithingi, which were the kings before Audoin of the Gausian clan took power, were seen as the legitimate descendents of the original kings, which is why Theodelinda and her Daughter Gundeperga were allowed to chose their new husbands as kings, since the Lombard nobles believed they, through their husbands and sons, were the rightful heirs to the throne.

Actually the Gausian of Benevento sounds more like the true inheritors of Lombardy as descendant of Alboin of Lombardy. But good idea

If anyone encounters issues with the mod, let me know. Also, if anyone wants to use the mod in a youtube series or AAR, that's fine with me, just link to this mod page and be sure to let me know, because it would be exciting for me to see someone make a narrative or lets play with my mod!
