The police report filed in connection with today's fight involving Birmingham Mayor William Bell and City Councilman Marcus Lundy has been released by the mayor's office. It can be seen below.
Update 11:44 a.m.
The Office of Birmingham Mayor William Bell released the following statement regarding today's altercation:
"The Mayor is currently recovering at a local area hospital. A formal police report has been initiated and will be ready for release in the next hour. From there, the magistrate will swear out a warrant for the arrest of Councilor Lundy. When approached by Birmingham Police, Councilor Lundy refused to give a statement. "
Update:
Birmingham City Council President Johnathan Austin said at a news conference that Mayor William Bell assaulted City Councilor Marcus Lundy. Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment.
"What occurred at City Hall today is a direct reflection of the lack of respect towards the Council and unwillingness to corporate which has been ongoing for some time now," Austin said. "We have worked continuously to move this city forward, and it's a sad day when Council members are attacked while trying to do the job that they were elected to do."
Austin said Lundy plans to press charges against Bell.
Birmingham police continue to investigate.

Birmingham Mayor William Bell was involved in an "altercation" with City Councilor Marcus Lundy outside today's council meeting, sources told ABC 33/40.
Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper said Bell was injured in the incident and was taken to the hospital. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing, Roper said.
Details of the incident weren't immediately made available.
