So, /u/chksum, I just re-read your rant here in the meta sub about how you were all upset about my post not being about Greg Abbott.

Then I re-read your comment you posted on /r/Conservative in response to my Sidebar post:

And here I thought this thread was supposed to be about Greg Abbott, not another post sidetracked into talking about the Article V convention lol.

THEN, I re-read some of the old Article V discussions I linked to in reply to your other meta thread comment stating that "no one is allowed to even bring up any counterpoints", and lo and behold... what did I find? None other than you, /u/chksum, making a lengthy anti-Article V comment, to which I gave a reply! To which I'll note, you chose to not reply to in response!

That discussion thread is linked here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Conservative/comments/5fw75x/article_v_convention_of_states_limited_to/daorvpx/?utm_content=permalink&utm_medium=front&utm_source=reddit&utm_name=Conservative

So that got me to thinking... it appears to me that your "concern" about my Sidebar post was really MUCH less about the Sidebar post not being "about Greg Abbott" than it really was about you just being an anti-Article Fiver.

Your petty little meta post here with its entire theme whining about my Sidebar post not being about Greg Abbott was one big lie... in fact, you're actually just an anti-Article Fiver!

Rather than address your Article five "concerns" in the comments section of my Sidebar post, you chose to make a shitty concern troll post about it "not being about Greg Abbott".

So I looked through your post history. You're a conservative and an active poster who got banned without warning for getting on the wrong person's bad side. Welcome to the club!

Par for the course it seems at that sub. For a group of people who are ostensibly conservatives, some of sure do seem to enjoy wielding power with a Politburo-like zeal.

Being conservative & active does not mean you don't have to abide by rules.

There's a rule against pointing out that someone's way off topic?

I reject your premise that it was off topic. There is a rule for shitposting & another for civility.

I reject your premise that it was off topic.

Excellent, sounds like you're ready to have a constructive conversation on the validity of the ban.

Piss off... how's that for constructive?

Well I didn't expect a reply... So, less constructive than I expected.

That comment adds nothing to the discussion and by your logic, you should be banned.

How clever and original... You are truly unique.

Piss off... how's that for constructive?

Your eloquence, maturity, and respect for the the honest discussion of ideas between adults comes off with every post you make.

I'm not sure I'd call it a shitpost (then again, that's intentionally vague) but you were kind of being a dick. If you thought the comments were irrelevant, downvote and move on. It's like you tried to create a meta discussion inside the comment chain.

r/conservative is a god-awful subreddit for several reasons:

  • three highly authoritarian moderators that ban at the drop of a hat, even if you've been around a long time (cue, Clatsop: "you're all just a bunch of babies")
  • repression and silencing of meaningful discussion (cue, Yosoff: "liberals pretending to be conservative! trust me, there is a horde of spamming libs out there!")
  • promotion of the most obscure/irrelevant/dishonest "conservative" websites known to man
  • complete non-presence of top moderator, who allows his/her minions to freely continue the declination of the subreddit
  • failure to get any form of regular, interesting content like AMA's
  • proliferation of memes and actual shitposts you'd find on your crazy uncle's facebook page (cue, chabanais: "tard")
  • mod team that doesn't allow META posts in-house
  • top moderator that refused to listen to the community (including admins) when a META post actually was allowed and got overwhelming community support to bring about a change

Of course, most don't need me to point out the obvious to them. Why else are 99% of folks here anyways? Unless they're an authoritarian moderator either trying to explain off something or just vaguely attack someone for daring to question their ban.

The mod team only cares about rules when it comes to defending themselves or silencing critics. Sorry for the ban, but maybe you've started to realize that the place is a total dumpster fire. It's unfortunate, very very unfortunate. But there is nothing that will fix it.

Awww... Thanks for caring enough to write!

Not a personal attack?

You posted this before replying to my post:

One thing I've noticed is that there are rules against spamming and making multiple posts about the same thing, and yet that doesn't seem to apply to mods. A certain mod seems to take every opportunity to post as many times as he can about the Article V convention, and has in the past banned users who either question him posting so much about it, or even debate the topic itself with him. He uses /r/Conservative as his own personal soapbox to rant about pet issues and no one is allowed to even bring up any counterpoints or ask why he feels the need to post about the same thing over and over and over and over.

So you're admitting you search through people's post history to find comments that may or may not be about you, then go on vendettas against people who posted in other subs, then ban them from a sub that the above quote wasn't even posted on, citing an entirely different post as the reason. Gotcha.

Oh and thanks for proving every single thing I said absolutely correct.

So you're admitting you search through people's post history...

Of course we do... all of the moderators do. We look to see "just what kind of a person is this"... what is their intent.

...find comments that may or may not be about you.

May or may not?

This comment on my post is about Abbott's Texas Plan, and includes a link to a serious, well written policy document I am sure he's quite proud of.

And here I thought this thread was supposed to be about Greg Abbott, not another post sidetracked into talking about the Article V convention lol.

How was that comment supposed to add value? Had /u/Clatsop chosen a quote about a different topic then mentioing Article V Convention would have been off topic.

But the quote directly referenced that so your comment was a troll.

... no less than 2 separate posts with several paragraphs discussing an Article V convention of the states.

I also commented in the thread about my favorite part of the quote.

I really liked this part of the quote:

We should demand that the federal government do two things. >One: Fulfill important, but limited, responsibilities as written in the Constitution. And two: On everything else, leave us alone, and let Texans govern Texas.

As it should be...

Limited government.. states rights... definitely conservative issues.

So there is a thread on /r/Conservative that is ostensibly about Greg Abbott, my governor, and him being featured on the sidebar. I go there to see what's being said, and what do I find? Posts discussing Gov. Abbott? Talking about conservatism in Texas? Perhaps possible discussion about Gov. Abbott and a possible future Presidential run?

The post was more about his quote than just Abbott himself.

Maybe instead of your whiny little shitpost & meta comments, you could have posted something like this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Conservative/comments/5rrbib/this_weeks_sidebar_tribute_is_texas_gov_greg/dd9miks/.

You could have talked about Abbott & the issues YOU ARE INTERESTED IN yourself... in the comments.

Nope... you decided to be a shitposter.
