Paintings of Hyperborean Russia by Alexander Uglanov

Alexander Uglanov (Александр Угланов) was born in 1960 in Tver. He studied at the Art College of Venetsianov under Vladimir Ivanovich Burov, an experienced master who taught the importance of strict academic art, which involves the careful study of nature and a focus on the overall quality of a picture, while also allowing for a student to develop his own style based on his talents. In Alexander’s case, he chose to use his skills to represent his visions of ancient Russia – a world of magic, beauty, and strength.

These epic landscapes and legendary figures leave me feeling that even if some elements of this awesome past have no basis in reality, these paintings can offer inspiration for a future world we can build.
